Elder Moffett is home!

We left for the airport on Wednesday, the 29th, at about 12:30, I believe. His flight was supposed to come in at 2:22.
Oh, before we left for the airport, we put all the signs outside that we had made.  It was BEYOND windy that day (especially for Utah) and so we weren't able to do exactly what was planned, but it was fine.  The banner was put in the front yard on the back of a backdrop from my wedding and then all the balloons were staked in to the ground instead of being up and floating around.  Each smiley face balloon was each of us family members happy to see Shawn.
All the signs we made were staked and put in the ground.  We also had to cover them with laminate paper because it was supposed to snow that day and we didn't want the snow to cause the words to bleed.  It worked well and none of them got ruined!
I made this one that says "WE LOVE YOU SHAWN".
Lizzie made this one.  It says "Boom Boom Pow, You Rock Shween!" (Shawn and his friend, Tressa, did an awesome dance together at my brother, Derek's, wedding to this song)
This is the sign Kolton made.  It says "YOU'RE SO COOL."
This is Cambrea's sign.  It says "Not me...Not Hermione...You!....Are Home!"  She did this one because he loved Harry Potter and when he was little he used to always say "Not me, not Hermione, You!"
And of course my mom made this sign.  "Yay! Our SuperMissionary is HOME!"
Here's a picture of all of us waiting at the airport for Shawn to come down the escalators.

My dad had is iPad there and was checking the flight every few minutes to see where he was.  His flight ended up getting a couple minutes behind and didn't land until 2:45ish.
 There's his plane! :)
A few people tricked my mom in to thinking Shawn was coming.  One time she was looking in her purse for something and Brady said "Is that him?!" and she looked up super fast hoping she hadn't missed his first look at us.  It was funny! :) They have the area at the bottom of the escalators roped off so you can't get too close to the escalators.  You are supposed to stay behind them.  We tried to.  :) There were three other families there picking up their missionaries too.  One of them was Tyson's family (Shawn's friend who served in the same mission as him.)
THERE HE IS!!! He's in the back behind those two missionaries in the front.

Here's a closer up shot of him.  He's in the back, on the left.  At this point my mom was yelling "E-L-D-E-R---M-O-F-F-E-T-T!"
She then went running to meet him at the bottom and gave him a big hug.  I went running after her to try and take some pictures.

So sad this picture is blurry.  I think I was taking so many pictures so fast that the shutter had a hard time keeping up.
It looks a little better in black and white....maybe...?

For some reason this band was there playing music.  Kind of cool!
At first Kolton kind of just stood back and watched everyone else hug Shawn.  Then, when it was his turn, he got a running start and jumped in to his arms.  It was sweet!

Shawn was able to meet Korver for the first time.  Too cute.  He was shy too and just kept his fingers in his mouth the whole time.  :)

Here's our family! Yay! He's home! (wish the picture was better but all well...)
Kolton stayed by Shawn's side the rest of the time.  He was excited to have him home!

 LOVE this picture!!

After we got home Shawn had to leave to go get released so him and my parents left to go do that.  Then he came home and we ate dinner.  We had Cafe Rio.  Then he left to go report to the High Council and Brady and I took Cambrea to dance.  It was a full on snow storm that evening! Tons of thick snow! It was awesome!
Then, Shawn played the piano and some of us watched and listened.  He's an awesome piano player.  Definitely takes after my mom.  He was playing out of the hymn book but totally playing his own arrangements--some of which he was making up on the spot.
He started singing along so I joined him.  I wasn't feeling well so my voice wasn't working but I still had a really fun time doing that with him.
A few of his friends came over that evening (Tyson, Taylor Edwards (who got home from his mission that day as well), and Taylor Steele (who has been home for a couple months), and Cori Fox) and they chatted on the couch and had a good time catching up.
It was a good day and we are all so happy that he is home! We're proud of the missionary that he was and the service he did for the people in Florida and our Heavenly Father.  BUT, it was great to have him with us again! :)

I have tears in my eyes! What a wonderful family and special experience you had! You did a great job of capturing it, Jennifer! I can just picture Mary running up to Elder Moffett. Oh man...I'm getting teary again. Love this church and love our family! Thanks for sharing, Jennifer!
