A little dog park...A little FHE

We went to the dog park with the Foys and their dog, Boomer. Children under 10 are not allowed in the dog area, so Brittney and I hung out with the kids outside the fence and watched the men and their dogs. :) Kolton and Kade enjoyed a lot of football playing. Brittney took these pictures and I just love this one of the two boys! Such good buddies! :)
Climbing the fence! :) They loved that!

Kolton asks me all the time to get a picture of him with Missie. He'll go over to her and lay on her or try to give her a hug and ask me to take a picture. I have yet to get one of them where neither of them are moving. One of them is always fuzzy!

For family home evening last night we learned about general conference and the prophets. We really felt the spirit as we bore our testimonies to Kolton about our prophet, President Monson and how blessed we are to have a living prophet to teach us to be better people so that we can be a family forever. After our lesson we then made sugar cookies. Kolton LOVES to make sugar cookies!

I got flour put on my nose and, well, Kolton was just covered in flour.

The boys decided to have a flour fight in between batches. That was messy!

Kolton was COVERED and proud of it!!
It was a blast though! I made a half batch of dough and it turned out to make like 12 cookies which was perfect for us! We then decorated them and ate most of them! ;)

Missie

(Totally a bunch of random pictures for your viewing pleasure with no theme or rhyme or reason. :))
Check out Kolton's pouting/mad face. He pulls this face when he wants you to know he's upset about something. Cracks me up!
We've had this beauty for 2 weeks now. Couldn't ask for a sweeter dog! When we got her she had never been an inside dog or around children so we thought we had our work cut out for us. Turns out she was made to be around kids and lounge around inside. The only thing we are still working on is her licking. Can't quite seem to break her of that. Other than that, though, she is just as sweet as can be. She has taken a liking to me and I have to admit I kind of like it. It makes Brady happy too, that I enjoy having her around and inside all day with me.

I watch Kashton every other Thursday while his mom goes to school. This last week we went outside to jump on the tramp. The boys had a blast!

Zoo: Code Red

We went to the Zoo on Friday with Kade and Dalton. We had a great time! There was lots of excitement! ;) First off, the rhinos were actually moving when we walked past them. Every time I see them they look like statues so it was nice to see them eating and drinking.
We went to go see the new elephant exhibit first (which is awesome!) and on our way back we watched the chimps for a few seconds. They weren't doing anything so we continued walking. As we walked off they started going crazy. They were making tons of noise so we decided to go back and watch. We put the boys on the fence ledge and watched as the chimps beat up another one and did all these weird swaying/dancing moves in front of the fence. One just walked up to another one and hit him repeatedly on the back chasing him off.
There was one little baby there that was so cute! Well, while we were watching a worker told us we needed to leave the area immediately. Apparently it was a "code red." Tons of workers were jogging/riding in cars to get there and get everyone away.
Afterwards I read on the internet that one of the chimps had gotten over the electric fence and into a dry moat. A code red is issued when an animal is out of its exhibit. Mwami was the suspect. I guess this isn't the first time he's escaped. He is the dominant male in the group and is supposed to breed with two females. This doesn't make the dominant female very happy since he prefers her sister and so the dominant females lashes out and attacks Mwami (sometimes other chimps join in). According to the news, I guess they are thinking about putting her (Abby) on birth control to tame her and curve her desire to breed which will hopefully decrease the number of her attacks if not rid them completely. Kind of interesting.

We also let the boys play at the park they have.

Oh how I love me some Emery kisses!! :)

The male lion was actually visible too which was nice! He came walking up (only for a few minutes) and cuddled with the female there.

Here's Kolton watching the elephants in their new exhibit. Its huge! I think it is awesome!

We were walking through the zoo and one animal got pretty close to Kolton! :) I made sure he didn't feed him any of his yogurt covered raisins and while Kolton thought it was cool it was that close, it kind of made him a little nervous too.

The boys had fun watching the tiger who was pacing in his exhibit. Kolton expected it to roar (like it did last time) so he was a little disappointed that it didn't do that for him but enjoyed watching him just the same (you like how I assume all animals are boys...?).

Picture of the three boys. This picture took a lot of work. :)

I asked Kolton to pose with his pretzels and the tiger and he started getting all nervous. He wouldn't turn around and put his back towards the tiger. He asked me "Mom?! The tiger won't get me right? Since it is behind the fence, it can't get me?!"

We then tried to take a picture of all the kids sitting on the tiger statue. Pretty much impossible...

We went to the elephant demo that afternoon at the zoo. It was packed in there! Kolton was SO excited for it to start and to see the elephants do tricks! After a slight delay (they couldn't get the gates to work) they started and Kolton couldn't be more happy!

The elephants were so cute doing their little "tricks."

We had a great time at the zoo! Seriously one of the most eventful ones for me. All the animals were wonderful and we had a little excitement thrown in there as well.

March Madness

I don't know where the time has gone! We have been so busy this past month! Its crazy!
We've made time for some fun things, though!
Riding the go kart going so fast you can barely keep your eyes open!

Kolton was drawing a picture of me one morning. He showed it to me and then said, "Oops! Wait, I forgot your boobies. What color are they?" I just laughed and said, "just normal color." Then he asked, "Well, what shape are they?" I told him circles and then he drew them for me. :)

We went to the Science Museum with Liz, Dalton and Nolan. Kolton had a lot of fun playing! He loved the boats. He played there for a long time!
Then he tried the fireman pole and loved that too!

But his most FAVORITE part was the trains! He sat here forEVER pushing the button and watching the train go around and around. I couldn't get him away from it! He would sit there and wait for "his" train that he was "controlling" to come around and every time he'd get really excited!

Then he got to ride on the segways. At first he was really nervous and I had to walk around with him once and then after that he wanted me to leave so he could do it by himself.

He couldn't even see over it at all!

We then went upstairs to play in the gymnastic area. He LOVED it!

We had preschool at our house last week and learned about the letter "W." I tried to get them to paint whales, but their pictures quickly molded into a glob of multi colored paint. :)

I did get them to do handprints but then those were quickly messed up as well. :)

Kolton has been enjoying this nice weather and playing outside! He loves jumping on the trampoline! I just wish we had an enclosure to go with it! Our trampoline also turns everything black, hence the lack of shorts. :)

This morning he went out again with no pants or even a shirt.
This picture is pretty soft but his face cracks me up. He has been making some interesting ones lately.

Look at those feet! So dirty!!
Little Tidbits:
Last week Kolton told us he wants to be a panda bear when he grows up. He has since added that he wants to be a super hero panda bear or a daddy panda bear (started as a mommy panda bear, but was quickly changed when he realized he couldn't be a mommy).
He tells me I can be a boy when I "grow little" like him.
I was taking a shower one morning and I opened the curtain and Kolton was in the bathroom with some cleaner and a rag and was spraying everything and wiping it down for me. A couple days later I was cleaning the bathroom and Kolton came running in all distraught saying, "Mom!!! I already cleaned the bathroom!!" I explained to him that you have to clean it over and over all the time. He wasn't very happy that his cleaning wasn't going to last a lifetime. :)
We went to the dog park with the Foys. We brought Boomer in our car so they wouldn't have to squeeze him in theirs with both their kids. Boomer was sitting next to Kolton and he was just staring at him. After a while he said, "Mommy, where are Boomer's boobies to feed the babies?" I then told him he was a boy so he didn't have them like girl dogs do. :)

First video is of Kolton at the science museum going down the fire pole. Brady tried to get Kolton to do this at the park about a month ago but he wouldn't. The one at the science museum is much shorter, though, so I guess he felt comfortable enough to do it.
About a week or so later, we went to the park and Kolton decided he could do it there too. He loved it!

Kolton's Left Elbow

(warning: really long story)

Wednesday night we went up to the church to watch Brady play basketball. During Brady's second game, Kolton started getting rowdy with his friend who had also come to watch his dad play. So, I got up to go over to him and hold his hand until I got off of the phone and could talk to him. As I was holding his hand, he tried to escape and pulled himself away, falling to the floor. I was still holding his hand and heard a pop and then he started screaming. I got off of the phone and tried talking to him to figure out what was wrong. He just kept crying and just looking at me with the scared look in his eyes. I took off his coat and tried figuring out what it was (I thought the pop was just his wrist, which has happened before but I was quickly realizing I was wrong..). He just kept saying his elbow hurt. Everytime I'd touch it he'd scream louder. So, I made Brady meet me out in the hallway (even though he was in the middle of a game). He came out and took Kolton from me and kept trying to get Kolton to move his arm. He wouldn't. He just kept crying saying it hurt. Even if you'd touch his fingers he'd shreak out in pain. After like 10 minutes we decided we should probably take him to the doctor. So, we headed to the ER. Once we got in the car, Kolton had stopped his crying and would only cry when his arm was moved. If he could keep it perfectly still he was fine. We got to the hospital and we went pretty much right back. We were called immediately into the nurses office where she asked us some questions. It was so sad when I had to put him down on the scale to weigh him. He just screamed and cried. I felt so bad! Then, after about a 2 minute wait we went back in to a room. The hospital was packed. We had a long walk past all the regular rooms, down a hall, and back in to another room where there was just a bunch of beds divided by curtains. That walk was hard to do while holding him and trying to keep his arm from moving. It just broke my heart everytime I'd take a wrong step and he'd cry.

I laid him on his bed and the doctor came right in! Seriously, this was the most time efficient ER visit I've ever had! He asked me what happened twice, asked me what I heard twice, pointed and touched Kolton on both of his arms at different points to see where it hurt then looked to Brady and I and said, "Now, what I'm about to do is going to be extremely painful for him for about 30 seconds, but after about a minute he should stop crying and within 5 he should be back to normal giving high fives etc." Brady got up and left the room quickly. ;) I had a really hard time composing myself. I immediately started getting teary eyed and tried to pull myself together so I could console Kolton. The doctor (who was VERY nice) took his elbow and squeezed it in one hand and used his other hand to move Kolton's left arm up and down really fast like 4 or 5 times. And the doctor was right--Kolton SCREAMED loud when he did it. It hurt him so bad that he actually wet his pants when he did it (so sad). As the doctor left the room he told Brady that he had felt it pop back in to place so he should be good. The doctor said that he thought, from what I explained, he had nursemaid's elbow and that by popping it back in place he'd be fixed. If he wasn't better in 5 minutes, though, then they'd have to do an x-ray because it might be broken.

Well, after about 2 minutes, Kolton would squeeze my finger in his hand, then he'd touch his nose with his finger, and then by 5 minutes after he was popped back in place, he'd give high fives. It took a lot of coaxing at first to get him to move his arm. He thought for sure it would hurt but after he was able to squeeze my finger and Brady and I got all excited for him, he kind of let out a little smile and was willing to do more for us. It was crazy how quickly he returned back to his normal self. When we came in the hospital he was just staring off in to oblivion, not smiling or talking or anything. When we came out he was talking my ear off and telling me everything that happened. He even said, as we walked past the doctor to leave, that "That guy is a nice guy. He made my arm feel all better." I'm glad it wasn't broken and the doctor was able to fix it so quickly and easily. They gave us a prescription for Loritab for him, but with some tylenol he seems to be doing fine. The doctor said if it had happened to one of us we'd be laying in bed in pain/really sore, so we need to keep him calm for the next two days because even though he might think he's all better and doesn't complain about it hurting, he needs to rest it to make sure it completely heals. So, that's what I've been trying to do today. :) (Haven't been very successful!) I'm just grateful for such a great doctor who was there to help us. How lucky are we to have doctors at our disposal at any time of day?
