Firehouse

This weekend we were invited by our friends, the Shipmans, to go to a fire house in Oklahoma City. Devin's dad was retiring as a fireman and so they were throwing him a surprise dinner and party. They invited us to come along and have Nate show us around the fire house before the party. I've never seen some of the rooms we were able to see! He took us in to every room there! Kolton was a little afraid of the fire trucks but still enjoyed looking at them. He's so funny--he loves to see them from afar but was really hesitant in person. He just kept saying "no drive--firetruck no drive." While we were there, though, they got a couple calls they went out on and so Kolton got to see the firetrucks light up and the sirens go off as they left. He actually enjoyed seeing it drive away even though he kept telling us he didn't like it. :) Dalton even went down the pole with one of the firemen a couple of times. We kept asking Kolton if he wanted to but he never did--he just wanted to watch Dalton do it.

Nate took us all around and showed us where they slept, the locker room, where all the equipment is kept, the offices, the classroom, the kitchen and let us get in or on any of the trucks. It was awesome!!
Kolton was a little nervous to wear the hat and Brady had to help hold it on him because its really heavy--but I thought it was cool!


We finally got him to get in the firetruck after I got up there and he saw that it was actually pretty cool in there. ;)
We had so much fun and I'm so glad we were able to go! We had the best dinner ever with some of the nicest people. All the firemen were very welcoming and enjoyed playing with the kids. Kolton's favorite part of the whole thing, though, was probably the basketball goal they had there and let him play with. They were all impressed with his shooting skills! :) Seriously, though, that 2 year old can shoot! And well!!!

"Foffball"

On Tuesday Brady and I went on a dinner date to Zio's. Madison watched Kolton for us so we could celebrate our 5 year engagement anniversary. :) After we picked him up Brady stopped at a gas station and took Kolton in and let him pick any candy he wanted. Kolton thought that was pretty darn cool! He picked a cherry push pop and some twizzlers.
A couple nights ago Kolton was playing in his room and I overheard this:
"Oh, Woody, you crying? *pouting* You ok. Hold you? Ok. Here. *back patting* There, you all better. Lay next to Kolton? Ok." This was the first time I heard him carry a conversation with a toy. Its crazy to me that he's already gotten to that stage!

Yesterday was Brady's day off. Kolton soaked it all in! Those two played almost all day! It was great!


Last night Brady had 2 softball games. I made the mistake of telling Kolton early that afternoon that we were going to go watch Daddy play softball so for the entire rest of the day he would ask me/tell me that we were going to watch Daddy play "foffball" and was it time yet to go watch Daddy play "foffball?" Finally, 7:00 came and we got to go watch him play. Kolton just runs around and plays and only stops to watch the game when its Brady's turn to hit. Every once in a while he'll pay a little more attention, but usually he's throwing a baseball Eddie gave him at the fence or kicking it around or running back and forth from the garbage can to the bleachers back to the garbage can and back to the bleachers and so on! ;)


It rained in between the games last night (they had a game at 7:30 and 9:30) just enough to get everything wet and muddy. Kolton's shorts weren't white anymore and his shoes were covered in red mud. It was great! ;) During the second game Kolton had fun climbing the fence a few times. He'd actually get pretty high up! I was impressed!

The boys lost their first game but then won their second game so that was awesome! And they were down a guy in the second game!
We came home and watched the Thunder/Lakers game. Oh My Gosh! That was an AWESOME game! And even more awesome because we WON! In between the softball games we came home to get some jackets and watched part of the draft and the start of the Thunder game. It was pretty depressing when we started losing 10-0 but we came back in the second half and won. It was a nerve racking and exciting game!
Also, OU did awesome in the first round of the NFL Draft! Three Sooners went in the top 4 and 4 total in the first round! It was an awesome day in the way of sports! ;)

Andy Alligators

Friday night we went to Andy Alligators with the Foys and Shipmans. The boys had fun trying out all the toys. It was a little crazy and hard to keep track of everyone but it was fun to go out and do something fun.
The boys would just chuck the balls instead of rolling it up the ramp. Most of the time the balls would hit the guard and come bouncing back at them, but they didn't mind! ;)


Kolton's favorite thing to do was play basketball. We swiped our card over and over and over for the basketball game. :)


For $20 Kolton got an hour of playing games and a plastic snake, 4 army men and one little monkey. As we were leaving Devin, Dalton's dad, said--"Next time we go to the park and then hit up Walmart afterwards--it would be a lot cheaper." :) He's right! It was fun, though!


After Andy Alligators we went to Marble Slab for some ice cream! I love that place!

Saturday night Brady played COD for a little bit. I was on the computer just messing around when I turned around and saw Kolton almost falling asleep on Brady's knee watching his game.

After lunch Kolton likes to watch either Doug (King of Queens) or Curious George. He'll usually watch one and then soon thereafter I'll put him down for a nap. Well yesterday, he didn't make it 5 minutes in to the show before he was out. I should have known he was going to fall asleep when he asked for a blanket...
And yesterday my brother Derek found out he and his wife are having a little boy! How exciting!! Boys are so much fun! I'm so excited for them!

Some Videos

These are all taken with my phone so they aren't the best quality, but I think they're funny. He was CRACKING up when he was swinging with Brady and I. He thought that was SO much fun! Brady had taken Kolton to Shoe Carnival on Wednesday night. Kolton fell in love with that store (he can play basketball there!). Thursday morning we went back and as we were driving there Kolton got all excited because he saw the "basketball store" and couldn't wait to go play some more. Needless to say, he hates leaving that store--even though he has two basketball goals at home--apparently, they aren't as cool! ;)

Ummm...A mod-podge of things.

Last week we got together with some friends and I made some cupcakes. Kolton didn't really get to eat any while we were there--we went to the park and he was distracted by all the playing. :) Anyway, so when we got home he wanted one and all he ate was the frosting. He made sure and eat every last bit of it though! :)
Thursday night was Brady's first night of softball for this season. He got all his stuff out that night to make sure he had everything. While we were watching an episode of "Dog, the Bounty Hunter"--yes we watch that show...--Kolton put on Brady's shoes and tried hitting one of the balls with the bat. I have no idea why he was doing it with the bat upside down but I thought it was cute.
He got annoyed with me towards the end of the video--he didn't want any more pictures to be taken. :) (I do take a LOT of pictures of this guy--I'd be sick of it too!)

I can't ever get good pictures of Brady playing softball. All my camera will focus on is the chain link fence. Its so frustrating. Here's somewhat of a picture, though, of Brady warming up before the games started. They lost the first game but won the second. Brady even slid to a base a jacked up his elbow! ;)

On Saturday we went to Dylen's track meet at OU. Comparing this time to last year, Kolton was SO easy to watch there! Last year it was so hard to entertain him and make sure he wasn't falling off the bleachers or something, but this time, we were there for 6 hours and he was awesome! He'd sit and watch all the kids run and eat all of Grandma and Grandpa's food. :)
Saturday night we watched The Blind Side. We borrowed it from the Foys a couple weeks ago and finally got to watch it. It was SO good! I loved it! I wish I could do that for someone!
On Saturday, Brady's boss pulled him in to his office and pulled up this list of all the employees of Reynolds. Of all the salesman in the city (there's like 70 or something) he's second for sales this month. This is his FIRST month of selling cars and he's second! He's pretty awesome! ;) On Wednesday he sold 3 in one day! Pretty crazy!

Today we went to the zoo with our new friends, Liz and her sons Dalton (2 years) and Nolan (3 months), and Brittney, Kade and Emery.

Kolton hasn't been since last year and its crazy how much he's "grown up" since then. He could find the animals on his own and actually would sit and look at them and talk to them. It was fun! Dalton knew where everything was and like showing Kolton. Here they are checking out the zebras.

This giraffe was licking the branch to death! It was really going at it! I love giraffes. I think they are so cool.

This was one of the animals Kolton was talking about as we drove to the zoo and how he wanted to go see them. He wanted to see the cheetahs, giraffes, lions and monkeys.

We played in the Children's Zoo for a little bit. We didn't stay too long in that area though because I swear this huge group kept following us everywhere and we couldn't do anything so we left. They boys liked petting the goats and looking at the bunny!

I actually got him to climb on the statue things. Every time we've gone before he's been scared but this time I was able to explain to him that they were fake and so he'd actually go touch them and give them hugs. He actually LIKED doing it--i didn't have to force him! ;)

EASTER

Saturday night Kolton and I went to the Foy's house to dye Easter eggs. Each of the boys got to dye two eggs. We stripped them down and put aprons on them. They loved giving each other hugs in their aprons. It was hilarious!
They thought it was pretty fun to drop the eggs in the dye. They didn't so much like the waiting for them to actually change color, but overall I think Kolton liked it!



After we died them they put stickers on them. All they wanted were the basketballs and soccer balls and baseballs. Occasionally they picked a bug or firetruck, but they pretty much stuck with balls.

****Easter Morning****

On Easter morning Kolton woke up to a letter from the Easter bunny starting him on a scavenger hunt leading to his basket!

Kolton was led to 8 different spots starting with the vacuum, then mom's shoes, computer, toilet paper, stove, lamp in the living room, toothbrush, Kleenex box, and finally the bathtub where his basket was hidden. Inside each egg was some candy and then a picture of the next place he was supposed to go. He had so much fun doing it! He'd get really excited every time he'd find the egg in the hiding spot!






Easter morning Brady got up before everyone else and decided to take a shower. He just reached his arm in to the bathtub and turned on the water without even looking. After about 5-10 seconds he realized the water sounded different and ran and turned it off--not before soaking EVERYTHING in Kolton's basket and the chair the Easter bunny gave him. He ran into our room and woke me up to help him dry it all off. Unfortunately we couldn't dry the chair off enough for Kolton to sit in it until that night, but he was still excited for his presents! Brady's such a special man...:) Kolton ended up with some candy, the Disney version of Pinocchio, a gumball machine and a "Cars" chair.


Later we went to Brady's parents house and ate dinner with them and the Foys and the Stapelys (a couple from Brady's parents ward). Brady's mom made this cute cake that Brady couldn't resist...(He stole a bunny off of it and created a little "bunny hole")

Kolton and Kade got to do an Easter Egg hunt outside on Easter too!

We also went to Lilly's grave to give her some flowers for Easter. We tried to explain to Kolton that she was his sister and that because of what we were celebrating yesterday we could be resurrected and be a family forever.


I'm sad I can't get any videos to upload! I've been waiting for 2 hours and I can't get one to upload! I might try later...
We had a good Easter! Holidays are so much more fun when you have kids to celebrate with! It was great to be able to celebrate Easter with Brady and Kolton!
