bIRTHDAY cELEBRATION

In response to the previous post, Brady forgot to mention that he was doing that for fun on his own and then begged and begged me to do it. I finally gave in and he decided he needed to video tape it to prove to everyone I actually did it. I'm sorry to all those who had to watch--it is a little embarrassing! ;)

For Brady's birthday we had an awesome ham dinner. It was nice to be able to cook a big meal like that for Brady! Then the Foys came over to give Brady his present (a bat bag for the bat he got for his birthday). They were originally supposed to babysit for us to go see Transformers but when we went to the theater, all the showings were sold out, so we just decided to hang out. They took us to Braums for dessert to celebrate his birthday! Then, the next day, Sterling took Brady to The Cheesecake Factory for lunch. Brady had a HUGE burrito--I'm talking like a foot long and really fat! And of course he got cheesecake! They are such nice friends to us!
We celebrated Brady's birthday with his family on Sunday. Brady's mom made him his favorite cake--"Gooey Cake." We also had taco soup for dinner (per Brady's request) which is so weird considering his dislike of soup...He's so random sometimes!

Brady refused to let me take a normal picture with him and the cake, so this is what I have:

And played with his aunt Jaycee who is here for the summer and then heads back to BYU in the fall with her husband, Adam.
Then, to continue Brady's birthday celebration, on Monday we went to see Transformers at the Warren Theater here in Moore. It was awesome! We sat in the balcony (thanks to my parents :))where you can order dinner and desserts and the seats are really big and have seat warmers...it is just awesome! The movie was great and sitting in the balcony was a lot of fun! We'll definitely have to do it again sometime!

A Mess

This week was full of fun and messes! It seems like Kolton changed a lot this week!

We got a portable DVD player before our trip out to Utah for Spring Break hoping it would entertain Kolton some on the long drive there and back. He used it a couple of times, but was just too young to really appreciate movies. He saw it in my bedroom last week and the past couple of days asks all day long to watch a "moomoo." He loves that thing! His favorite movie to watch is Baby Einstein's Baby MacDonald. He loves animals!



Brittney and Sterling watched Kolton for us while we went to the temple on Wednesday night. The boys decided it would be a good idea to pull out every single lid and scatter them on the kitchen floor (mess #1). How funny! These two kids are going to be trouble when they grow up! ;)

The next day, I was cleaning out the refrigerator to make room for some new groceries I had bought. I am so horrible at keeping the refrigerator clean. I really need to be better at it. Kolton really isn't allowed to play in the fridge, but since I had it open for so long, he thought it would be fun to take out all the condiments and place them on the floor (mess #2). Being the drama king he is, he huffed and puffed with every one he carried (especially while putting them back in the refrigerator). Brady says he gets that from me...I don't know what he's talking about. ;) It really is funny, though. Kolton acts like things are SO heavy and he is working SO hard when all he's carrying is a half empty container of salad dressing.

I have been really struggling trying to find something Kolton can wear in the pool that will help him keep his mouth out of the water. Most of the problem is that he hasn't learned to hold his head up, but I feel like I can't find anything that helps. We bought this suit last summer when we went out to Utah, so I decided to try it this week when we went swimming at the Foy's pool. He didn't care for it too much and it didn't work very well. I try and leave him long enough with is mouth under water for him to hopefully learn to lift it out but not too long that he drowns (obviously) but he just can't get it. I'm really hoping by the end of the summer he will figure it out.

I just thought he looked really funny in it!

Friday Brady and Kolton threw toilet paper all around the living room (mess #3). Kolton had a blast! He really thought it was THE coolest thing! And then of course he loved to help clean it up! He loves to put anything in the garbage. This last weekend we were at the Foys for dinner and he was eating some yogurt puffs. I wasn't paying much attention to what he was doing, but he went and put the wrapping in the garbage on his own and came back to me all excited and clapping his hands saying "babage, babage." I didn't understand him at first but quickly caught on. He was so proud of himself for doing it on his own. Kids are so funny to me!


We bought rock pops for Kolton to throw outside since he LOVES to throw things. He thought it was pretty fun, especially the few times he actually made them pop. (And yes, he had eaten powdered donuts before this activity was done, hence the powdered face!)

Then later he played in the sink water while I cut up watermelon (mess #4). He was SOAKING wet when he was done. Playing in the water (any water) is probably his favorite thing to do!

For dessert on Saturday at the Foys (yes, we do everything with the Foys! :)) I made this dessert my mom taught me. I think it is called Chocolate Delight (I know, that tells you a lot about it, but it is so yummy!). I let Kolton eat some of the cool whip that was left on the sides of the cool whip container. He thought it was SO good! I'm actually really surprised he enjoyed it because normally he doesn't like to get things on his hands, but I guess it was good enough to keep going!



We also celebrated Father's Day! We didn't get to go to church or anything, though, because Kolton has pink eye. On Thursday I noticed his eyes were watery, but his nose was runny too so I thought he was having allergies. Our doctor told us we could give him children's Zyrtec so on Saturday morning we went and bought some because it wasn't going away. Saturday evening we were eating dinner at the Foys with the missionaries and they asked if he had pink eye. I said no, he has allergies. I never thought that he might have pink eye. After we left we went to the store and I noticed they were getting more and more red and really watery. So we took him in and sure enough he has viral pink eye. Which, unfortunately means that medicine can't make it go away it can just make it more comfortable for him and he is contagious until it goes away which can be up to 7-10 days. We are hoping it goes faster than that!

With how many pictures I take, you would think I would have a better picture of Brady and Kolton on Father's Day, but this is all I have--the two of them watching a movie (of course!) while I finish up dinner and make the dessert.

I am so glad we were able to celebrate Father's Day and pamper Brady and let him know how much he means to our family! He is such a great Dad for Kolton! Kolton loves to play with Brady. It doesn't matter if Kolton is happy or sad, the second Brady lays down on the floor, Kolton gets all giddy and runs over to play with him. I love to see them together!
Brady and I are also lucky to both have such awesome dads! They have really meant a lot to us and have been great examples to the both of us! We are so blessed!

Splish Splash

We bought Kolton a little plastic pool this last week for him to play with instead of just standing in the front yard with the hose. :) We also bought a cheap $4 sprinkler that we thought he would like since he loves playing in the hose so much. Well, I'm glad we didn't spend the $20 for a cooler sprinkler because he doesn't care for the water spraying on his body at all. :) Anyway, he loves playing in the water and wearing his swimming suit!

Brady decided to get in there with him his first time to show him fun things to do!

They decided it would be fun to spray me with the sprinkler. Kolton gave it a good try! It was kind of heavy (well, heavier than you would think) so I'm sure to him it was hard work!

Saturday night the Foys came over and the boys got to swim some in the pool. It was fun to watch them. It is nice to not have to worry about them falling and drowning! :)

And of course they had snacks too! Good thing Brittney always brings food for Kade otherwise Kolton would never eat! :) He always takes Kade's food. I can have the same thing in my cupboard, but he always wants Kade's.

I turned 23!!!!

Well, last week...
I had an awesome birthday!!!
Brittney took me to Penn Square Mall and bought me 3 shirts and my favorite scent of lotion from Bath & Body Works! They used to sell Exotic Coconut but when they switched over to their new look, they stopped selling it in stores. When I went out to Utah one time, on the way back I had my lotion in my bag and the security people took it from me! I was so sad! Bath & Body brought it back, though, for their semi-annual sale! Yay! Now I have my lotion back!! ;)
On the way back, both boys fell asleep! They were so sleepy!

Brittney also took me to The Cheesecake Factory! It was SO good! I've never been there, but I am definitely going to have to go again! The cheesecake was VERY yummy and I love cheesecake anyway!
They were so nice there! When we showed up, they brought Kolton and Kade their own plates with bananas slices and bread for them to eat while we waited for the food! I've never had a restaurant bring food specifically for my child while waiting. That was nice!

Our group photo. Why is it that when you ask someone to take a picture something is wrong with them always? Either its blurry or no centered or of someone else...This was our 3rd or 4th picture we asked her to take because they weren't turning out. We settled on this one! :)
Kolton and I on my birthday. He was a really good boy that day! It was nice! He had a runny nose (that he still has and has had for several weeks now), but that was it!

When we got home we all took naps. I transferred Kolton from the car to his crib and then Brady was there to meet me and we took a nap on the couch. We woke up at about 3:00 or so and just hung around for a while. At about 4:15 we left. My birthday date with Brady was supposed to be a surprise so he had me close my eyes as we drove. I had asked Brady if he even had a babysitter and he told me to not worry about it, so I figured we were taking Kolton with us. Well, we showed up at Brady's parents house and they watched Kolton for us while we went out to eat. That was a surprise! We went to Saltgrass for dinner! I had 2 very awesome meals in one day! After Saltgrass we went to Ross so I could just look around. My parents had sent me money for my birthday and I wanted to spend it! :) I left with 2 dresses and still half the money I came in with! :) We then headed over to Barnes and Noble. I love to look around in that store, but for obvious reasons, don't get to do it very much now that we have Kolton. Now was a perfect opportunity. I left that store with one book that I bought at a discounted rate of $6! Awesome! Well, after 3 hours we decided we should go get Kolton. They were at a park so we went and picked him up, brought him home and put him to bed (after feeding him dinner because he wouldn't eat at the Brammer's). Afterwards, Brady turned on music and we danced! It was so sweet! If you know my husband, you know that that makes him uncomfortable but he did it for me! It was great! I had a wonderful birthday and am now happy to be 23!



On a rather sad note, our Great Dane, Roxy, had 14 puppies starting on Friday, ending on Sunday (a very long labor). Normally that would be exciting news, however, they were 10 days early and when you are only pregnant for 63 days, that is a huge deal! More than half of them were stillborn and the other few that were alive just couldn't really breathe, maintain their body temperature, or nurse. The biggest problem was the breathing. Their longs were not developed nearly as they should be. Needless to say, Roxy is confused wondering where all her puppies are, we are sad, and a little worried for our future finances...

Summer

Summer is so fun! I love all the fun things you get to do!
We had playgroup last week and went swimming. We took a picture of the kids before we went swimming. A couple of them aren't in the picture because they showed up a few minutes later, but this is most of the group.

The boys were banging on the door that led to the pool and I thought it was cute so I snapped a picture. They are so funny to watch as they are trying to learn how to play with other kids. Playgroup isn't just for the moms to get together and chat! ;)

While I was sorting laundry last week, Kolton pulled out a book and started looking at it himself. I was pretty impressed. He usually bombards you with books and wants you to read a cagilion of them to him, but that day he was content to read to himself.


This is Kolton's personality to a T. He LOVES to show off--anything to get attention.

We went to the splash pad with some friends. This is the only picture I got of him. The little stinker wouldn't get in the water unless I went with him, so I couldn't take any pictures of him. This was towards the end when he ran and laid down on someone's towel. He's getting up (since I took to long to take the camera out) but its the only picture I have, so I'm putting it up dad gummit! ;)

One afternoon Kolton actually sat and watched a little TV that Brady was watching.


Monday night we sat in the backyard and watched the dogs run around. It was pretty relaxing. Kolton ran around the backyard some (which he rarely gets to do), played in the dog's water bucket, and sat on Dad's lap. It was a fun evening!

Kolton's uncle Derek gave Kolton this drum for his birthday. Normally he uses it as a drum, but lately, he seems to like to use it as a foot stool.

This is Kolton's new way of dancing lately, just spinning and spinning around.


Kolton was pretty proud of himself for being able to get up on that computer mouse, as you can see. :)

Best Buds!

Kolton and Kade have been playing together since Kade was born! It is so fun to see how much they have changed!

This was taken in August 2008, so Kade was one month old and Kolton was 7 1/2 months old.
This was taken in November 2008 (Kolton 10 months, Kade 3 1/2 months).

Kolton and Kade starting to be able to play with each other (sort-of) finally. This was February 2009 (Kolton 13 months, Kade almost 7 months).

This was taken on our trip to Ponca City with the Foys. The boys are 14 1/2 months and 7 1/2 months.

And this video was taken last week. Kolton almost 17 months and Kade 10 1/2 months. Too cute! :)

I hope they are able to stay friends! We love the Foys! We are so glad we have become such great friends!
