Halloween Playgroup

We had another Halloween playgroup this year. It was fun! We all brought our favorite (or easy to make) treats and let the kids play and have a good time! It was held at Whitney's house in Edmond and it was great for the kids to play! Kolton was such a sweetheart and loved all the food!
This year for Halloween he's going to be a fireman. He thinks it is fun to run around in his costume. I think he looks cute!
The kids were pretty much how they were last year! It makes me laugh! We thought since they were older they'd be a little more cooperative so us moms could do our photo shoot! However, they had other ideas! We tried taking their pictures on the couch inside and they wanted NOTHING to do with that. So, we moved outside in hopes that they would enjoy that a little more! Kolton loved sitting next to Brigham (Tucker's little brother who is 3 weeks old). He loved looking at Brigham and being sweet to him.

We asked Kolton to help Troy while we were taking pictures. We told him to hold his hand so that Troy could stand up. It was so fun, as Kolton's mom, to watch him try really hard to carry out this assignment! He was so concerned with Troy and how he was sitting or standing or if he was crying...I just loved watching it all play out! When Troy would sit down Kolton would try really hard to help him stand up without being too forceful. He kind of took on the job of being his little friend and I thought it was just too darn cute!
I am so excited to take him Trick-or-Treating this weekend! Grandma came in to town to spend this Halloween with us (post to come later with lots of pictures, as always!) and Kolton has loved every second! We have the ward party tomorrow with trunk or treating and then Saturday night we are taking him trick-or-treating while Brady goes to the OU football game. It's going to be a fun weekend!

Red River Rivalry 2009

This weekend we headed down to Dallas, TX for the OU/TX game. We left Friday morning and drove down to our hotel which was actually in Addison, TX. We stayed in a Hyatt, which actually wasn't what we expected, but still very nice. (When we asked them why it wasn't like what was on the internet they said that on their website they have posted what was going to happen after they renovated the place, but they never renovated it, so...) It actually had a lot of room for all of us to move around in. It was nice!
Sterling gave Brady his other ticket to the game, so him and Sterling got to go together! They sat on the 7th row in the endzone.
We went to the Galleria, which was really close to our hotel, on Friday night. I've been there before, but I had forgotten how HUGE it actually is! It is by far the biggest mall I've ever been to!

Kolton thought it was fun to watch all the people ice skate. I thought it was cool how they had the OU and TX symbols beamed onto the rink.

They also had a pretty big play area for the kids to play on. Kolton just ran and ran around it. He had a blast playing there!

This picture makes me laugh. I wanted to take a picture of Brady and Kolton so we stopped and Kolton refused to look at me to take the picture. He kept turning his head or closing his eyes. After several tries, Brady decided no more, and the second he said that Kolton snapped his head around and smiled. It was funny! So, I got my picture! ;)

I thought it was funny that Friday night both of the boys wore orange pajamas. Oh dear! What were we thinking??

A couple in our ward was going to the game, so they asked Brittney and I to watch their youngest son for them. We gave all the boys suckers and they stood there for a few minutes just sucking their suckers and bouncing against the wall/cupboard/stove behind them. It was funny! We actually got all the boys down for naps to where they all overlapped, so we had an hour where they were all asleep! It was great!

Kolton and Kade in their OU attire. The boys would get so excited when Brittney and I would scream and cheer for OU. It was great!

Brady and Sterling ended up getting sunburned at the game. This is right after Brady and Sterling got home.

Saturday night we went to a restaurant called Texas de Brazil. It was yummy! It was the kind of restaurant where they bring skewers of meat around and you take what you want. They also had an awesome salad bar! We'll have to go there again--maybe next time as a date!

This is obviously back at home. We came home on Sunday morning. It is nice to be back home and sleep in your own bed!
Kolton loves cars! I was wanting to get him the Cars movie for either his birthday or Christmas this year but wasn't sure how interested he'd be. Brady's mom rented Cars from the library and Kolton has LOVED watching it! So, I'm definitely going to have to get that for him! This movie will occupy him for minutes on end! Its so sweet! He was sitting on our bed with his cars pillow, blankie, drink, and Cars movie while I got ready this morning. I thought it was sweet how he was sitting with his little legs crossed. He has done that since he was really little and I think it is so sweet every time I see it!

At the restaurant on Saturday night I let Kolton play with the camera. He took several videos, but this one is my favorite. I love how he says cheese each time he lifts the camera up.

Grandpa Came to Visit!

My Dad came in to town and came to visit on Tuesday. Kolton LOVES him! He brought Kolton some new cars and a play garage for them. Kolton thought it was THE coolest thing! (He also brought him some clothes but Kolton was too distracted by the new toys to pay much attention to the new clothes.) He still keeps telling me when he plays with it "Papa buy. Papa open it." Its so funny!
He would copy all the sounds his grandpa would make with the cars and follow wherever he took the cars. It was funny to watch.

Isn't that just so sweet?? I love it! He loved to play with his grandpa! He would laugh and laugh and laugh.

He also showed Grandpa what he's going to be for Halloween--a firefighter!

And kisses for Grandpa!
We had fun and are glad that he was able to come and visit! Hopefully he'll come again on Thursday but if not, we'll see him again soon! Oh, and Grandma is coming in 2 weeks!

Boy things

Kolton has been such a big helper lately! Its so fun to see how much he is learning from the things we do. The morning these pictures were taken I had scrubbed the sink. I had moved on to cleaning other things and I come in to the kitchen and he has the dish wand and is washing the sink. When he saw me he was so proud of himself and kept telling me "wash sink, wash sink."

This last week he found Brady's hat and has loved wearing it. Seriously, I think he looks so cute!

What a little punk we have! ;)

The Norman JBF consignment sale started today. Kolton and I went with Brittney and Kade to do some shopping. I didn't get many clothes (which is usually what I come home with) but I did get lots of cars and trucks. I'm saving some for later, but I let him play with this truck today. He LOVES it! On the way there I told Brittney that I was expecting probably one melt-down by him because he didn't go to bed until 10:00 last night and then woke up at 6:50 this morning. I brought him in to bed with us hoping he'd go back to sleep but he just laid there and said the ABC's over and over (well, as much as he knows). Seriously...Anyway, so I was very surprised by his behavior. He was SO good. He actually sat in his stroller the whole time without asking to get down. He just held this truck and kept telling me "big truck mommy! big truck!"

Can you tell by the look on his face in this picture that he is having a ball? ;)
On a side note, we also celebrated Brady losing 20 pounds last week. We've both been working on exercising and eating better for the last 5 or 6 weeks or so. We've been sick (colds) for the last two weeks, so those weeks didn't go too well, but he has now lost more than 20 pounds! I'm so proud of him! I've only lost 5 lbs, but I can wear jeans that I wore before Kolton was conceived so that feels good! ;) Our plan is to start working out this week again!
Oh, and Kolton started doing somersaults this last week! He doesn't know what they are called, but he can do them! He seems to young to be doing those! ;)

We have a sneaky one on our hands...

Kolton has been SO sneaky lately. All of a sudden it will get quiet, so I go searching for him and find him doing SOMETHING he isn't supposed to. Like last night he decided to help himself to some pie...
What a stinker! His favorite thing to sneak is gum. He, at least once a day, is found either with a piece in his mouth, unwrapping a piece, or digging in my purse looking for a piece. He also has a new fascination with band-aids. It probably doesn't help, either, that he just got a package of spiderman band-aids that he LOVES. Yesterday Brady and I were watching "So You Think You Can Dance" and I noticed Kolton was pretty quiet. I look around the corner and he was standing on his tip-toes on the edges of his toy box, digging around in the first aid box trying to get a band-aid. What a stinker. I told him no, but then just a few minutes later he was running around dancing, being silly, and he stepped on his truck and cut his toe. So, he got a band-aid anyway!

Balls and cars...Cars and balls

Kolton has reached the stage where he is absolutely IN LOVE with cars and balls! He's liked balls for a while but just in the past month or so has he come to love cars! Just another sign of how big he is getting!
I'm already planning on going to the consignment sale in two weeks looking for lots and lots of cars! He only has about 8 or so and is always asking for "more cars." He talks SO much now! Its so fun to listen to the things he says. Its weird how all of a sudden he started talking in mini sentences. He'll say up to 4 words at a time.

Random story...Kolton usually has a dirty diaper sometime during sacrament meeting. We always have to take him out to change his diaper (I say we, but Brady always does it). On Sunday for some reason he was getting really antsy and wanted to leave our pew. We kept telling him no and that he needed to wait for sacrament meeting to be over. After a few times, he looked at us, touched his bum, and said he was stinky. I checked him and there was nothing. We told him he wasn't stinky and he kept asking to leave and telling us he was stinky. I couldn't believe he figured out that he gets to leave sacrament meeting every week when he is stinky and so he decided to tell us he was stinky so he could leave. What a funny guy!

He loves to play with this toy! He will just push balls through all the little holes over and over and over.

Yes, I've been very lazy this week so we had McDonalds one day. He was stuffing his cheeseburger in his mouth. He's so good at feeding himself.

When Kolton sleeps in our bed with us he loves to lay on our pillows. This morning when he woke up we brought him in our bed with us and he pointed out mamma's pillow and daddy's pillow and then asked "kolton's pillow?" so we decided he might like having his own pillow. I wasn't feeling very well today so Brady took Kolton out so I could take a nap and they came back with a pillow and a cars pillow case. Kolton LOVES it and gets a smile on his face every time he sees it! Its so cute!
