Camping!

We went camping for the first time since having kids on the 19th of September.  Kolton was so super excited to go since this was his first time camping ever! We went with the Widdisons and the Himes.  Brady was able to take a half day on Friday and got off at 1:00.  We check Kolton out of school at like 2:45 and left at 3:00.  We were camping at Red Rock Canyon which is about an hour away.  We were the first family to get there so we had to drive around and find three campsites next to each other.  Luckily we found the perfect spot! There were three spots right next to each other and they were the only three in that little alcove.  It was awesome! And it was really close to the bathroom and it backed up to the rocks where the kids could climb and play and it was right next to some swings.  It was great! We spread our stuff out to save the other two campsites and then Brady and Kolton went climbing.  After they did a little exploring then we set up our tent.  The Widdisons got there about 45 minutes or so after we did and then the Himes got there around 7:00.

We seriously had a blast!  It was so fun and the weather was perfect.  We had hotdogs for dinner and then had smores that night.  Joni made the fire for us and it was awesome! :)

We stayed up so late! I finally got Bentley to go to sleep around 10.  It was hard to get him to sleep but once he fell asleep he didn't wake up.  Even when we had loud music blaring at the campground next to us.  Haha.  Around 11:00 the ranger came by and told them to turn off the music so that was nice.  We stayed up until about 1:00 sitting around the campfire with the adults just chatting and having a good time.  I hardly slept that night but I expected that.  I just don't sleep well camping at all.  Bentley woke around 6:00 and we left our tent around 7:00.  We ate breakfast a little after that (bacon and eggs) and then the kids played.  Brady packed up all our stuff which was awesome! Then we could just enjoy our morning.

The kids seriously got filthy! Like beyond dirty! But they were having fun! :)

Later that morning I went climbing up the rocks with the kids and some of the adults.  Bentley ended up falling asleep on Brady while we were up there.  So sweet!

We left around 11:30 I think.  The boys sacked out on the way home.  We were filthy and tired but we had a great time! I'm so glad we decided to go.  It was a weekend we won't forget!

Bentley's 9 month pictures

At 9 months Bentley...
...very distinctively asks for a bite.  If he sees food he will drop his binkie and say "da" very emphatically.  He places a lot of emphasis on the "d" sound and sticks his tongue out while doing it.
...sleeps 11 hours at night and takes two naps that are each an hour and a half.
...smiles and talks to everyone at stores.
...will give you open mouth kisses if you ask.
...still won't let you touch his hand.
...loves, loves, loves balls.
...is a master at making messes fast.  ;)

Brady got his Diploma

Bentley has begun to learn how to make messes.  :) If he sees the pantry door open he goes crawling as fast as he can to get in there and play.  Most of the time he just likes to pull the broom down and play with it.  He's so happy all the time and adorable while doing it! :)

He had his 9 month check up and he was 28" long and 19 lbs 12 oz.  That put him at 50% on both height and weight.  Hopefully we can get his height up a little bit by his one year check up.  :) I was pleasantly surprised that he didn't have to get any shots so that was nice! Doctor said he is right on track with all his development.
Poor little baby is already feeling the pains of being the little brother.  So hard to have to sit and watch big brother get to do all the playing.
Brady got his diploma in the mail!!! Such an awesome feeling! It is so great for him to have that done.  I'm proud of him and he is proud of himself.  It is just a nice feeling for him to know that he accomplished that.  He has a few months off and then he starts again in November though for his Masters.
The second week of school was spirit week.  One day was pajama/crazy sock day.  Kolton loves to participate in spirit week.  He always is nervous that other people won't do it but once he gets to school and sees that others are dressed up as well then he is back to his normal self.  :)
This is always his favorite day...crazy hair day! He loves dying his hair blue! ;)
While we were in Utah Bentley pulled himself up once or twice on my parents coffee table but wasn't really positive he could do it.  Within a couple weeks of being home he was a pro at it! These pictures were taken on the 27th of August.

This is the picture Kolton colored on the first day of school.
Kolton is playing soccer again this fall.  He and his team are awesome and play really well together.

Brady and I got to go to Kolton's school one afternoon for a watermelon feast.  We brought watermelon and met the kids in the cafeteria.  Kolton was excited to see us and introduce us to some of his friends.

Kolton's First Day of First Grade

I still can't believe Kolton is in first grade.  In fact when I went to buy his school supplies I was getting things off of the kindergarten list! Haha.  It is so weird to me to have him gone all day! It was really hard for him at first too but he has gotten used to it.
The evening we flew back from Utah we had Back to School night where Kolton could meet his teacher, see his desk, and drop off his school supplies.  He was pretty nervous but excited.  He's so darn cute!

His teacher's name is Mrs. Milligan.  She seems very sweet.
 Can't forget Mr. Bentley! :)
The first day of school was Tuesday, the 18th.  We started the morning with cinnamon rolls for breakfast.  Kolton picked out his outfit the night before and had it all laid out so he didn't have to worry about it in the morning.  He looked super cute as always! :)
We got to walk to school which is great! I love being able to walk there everyday to take him and pick him up.

The theme for the year is "Everything is Awesome!" so they have legos and lego guys everywhere.  It is pretty neat.
Here is the cutie at his desk.  :) He made a few friends right away and still plays with most of them but with a few new ones added.
Brady was able to take a half day on the first day of school so he could come to pick him up.  He didn't tell Kolton so that he could surprise him and Kolton was so surprised! Once he saw us he started running and went right to Brady and jumped up in his arms and gave him a big hug and kiss.

He had a great first day and enjoyed telling us all about it.  For a few days he was still sad that he didn't get to play very much (especially since they had to have indoor recess for the first two weeks of school because the sod was new and they didn't want kids running around on it) but after that he started really enjoying it.  He was super excited for P.E. but came home on the first day of it and said "P.E. was boring.  All we did is sit around and talk about ourselves and then about music." I couldn't help but laugh and pointed out to him that he was probably in music class then and not P.E.  Haha.  Since then music class has become more fun (because he doesn't expect it to be P.E.) and P.E. has become more fun now that he is actually in P.E..  :)
