Animals

Friday night we went to a birthday party for my visiting teacher--Sarah Warnick. We had a lot of fun! Kolton was especially excited to ride the pony. The whole way over there and the whole time we were there he wanted to ride the pony! Finally I had to ask Alexis, their daughter to take him for a ride.
Madison decided to come with us and so Kolton got TWO rides on the pony. Lucky guy!!

They had a few games you could do, one of which was "catch the piglet." Kolton tried a couple times with no luck--he just runs around and doesn't really try to get the piglet. :) So, later I went in with him. Brittney and Kade came and did it with us too. I was so proud of myself when I actually caught one! Yeah buddy! :)

We went to the zoo this morning with Brittney, Kade, Emery, Liz, Dalton, Nolan, and their grandpa Nathan. It was so much fun! I've obviously been to the zoo several times but today was so nice because no one was there!! I loved it! And, since it was cooler all of the animals were out so you could see them. It was awesome! The tiger was roaring a ton! It scared Kolton at first but after I showed him that the fence was there he was fine and loved listening to him!


He was also scared to sit by the window by the gorillas, but after some more explaining of how the glass would keep us safe he finally sat down. The gorillas did some funny things too!

The boys got to see both of the cougars up and walking around.


They enjoyed the bears too!

One bear came over and started drinking the water right in front of them and they thought it was SO cool!

Kolton was cracking up and making weird noises and faces to show his excitement. :)



We went to the Children's Zoo and were actually able to enjoy it without 300 children running around you and parents trying to find their kids lost in the crowd. :)

All the boys were really interested in doing there, though, was to play in the water. Kolton L-O-V-E-D it! When I asked Kolton what his favorite thing about the zoo was he said "the TIGER...and all the animals." He even got to take the camera around and take pictures of some animals and he surprisingly did really well! He'd actually get the animal/thing he was trying to take a picture of. :)

{E} {Grandpa} {Race Cars} {Korver}

We had preschool at our house this week. We learned about the letter "E." We colored Elmo, learned about Elephants, exercised, and learned about our eyes and ears. The boys are always so excited to learn about it all! I love it!
They made elephants on paper plates. Kolton is in love with his! He has to show it to everyone! We went to Maddi's volleyball game and he had to bring it there so he could show everyone, he has to sleep with it next to his bed, he made sure Grandpa held it while he was here visiting--he's very proud of it!

We made elephant ears and they "exercised" while wearing them. They would jump up and down, run in circles, and fall to the ground. :)

I took them out to play with the puppies (they were begging to). They had fun chasing them and trying to hold them. Kolton of course grabbed "his puppy" and made sure she was ok and didn't go anywhere she "wasn't" supposed to. :)

They raced across the backyard over and over and jumped on the trampoline one at a time to get some more exercising done.

Grandpa came in to town and was able to come visit us on Tuesday and Thursday evenings. Kolton wore him out! Grandpa had to play with him the entire time. There was no time for talking or watching TV--it was all about Kolton. :)


Him and Grandpa taught each other how to draw garbage trucks. With every line Grandpa would draw Kolton would either tell him "perfect" or "that's right." He's a good teacher. ;)

Kolton also showed him the games he likes to play on our phones. He taught Grandpa how to do the puzzles and where to put all the pieces.


And they played lots and LOTS of cars.


We went to Walmart yesterday and there was this race car there. Kolton was beside himself with excitement! He would just stand there and stare at it. He was excited when he got to see it drive up into it's truck to take it away. Just like Lightning McQueen rides in Mack! :)
Yesterday morning we went to watch Brady play football. Kolton had a blast collecting acorns and chasing squirrels with Brigham and the Luers children. They were cracking me up as they'd run from tree to tree trying to catch the squirrels. Those poor squirrels had to have been scared to death but all the kids wanted to do was feed them! :)

My adorable nephew was born early Saturday morning! He was born September 25th at 4:09 am and weighed in at 10 lbs 13 1/2 oz and was 22 inches long. He's so cute and I can't wait to meet him! I'm SO excited that Kolton and I get to go out there on October 9th and will be able to see him!!

Kolton begs to hold Emery all the time. I always tell him no, so on Saturday he went straight to Brittney and asked her if he could hold her hoping he'd get a different answer. Lucky for him she said yes. He was ELATED! So Brittney sat Emery down in between the boys (they were watching Aladdin and the King of Thieves--love those movies!). Kolton quickly put his arm around her, leaned down and looked in her eyes and said in his high pitched "i'm talking to a baby voice"--
"You're so beuuutiful."It made my heart melt.

little BOYS

I have become a firm believer that boys are crazy. There is something in them that makes them the way they are. That makes them run without end, yell and scream, play cars as loud as they can...just anything crazy. It seems like no matter if you give them "violent toys" or not, they still find someway to be crazy. Its just something innate in boys. I swear. I've never really seen little girls act the way little boys do. I try so hard to tame Kolton's wild side--I do...but sometimes I feel like it is an unbeatable battle. He's just going to be crazy. I'm just going to have to settle with setting some boundaries and parameters for his craziness. :)
For example:
What 2 year old sweet little girl would go upstairs to find a mattress leaning up against the wall and think it to be a good idea to run full speed at it only to run in to it and be slammed to the ground? Kolton and Kade decided it would be a fun thing to do! And so they did it over and over and over...for days...and still do it! Only boys can be found doing something so crazy! And I'm so glad to have my little boy to show me how sometimes its just fun to be crazy!

Kolton has loved building towers lately. He has slipped away from his obsession with basketball and now loves cars and blocks. He doesn't have duplos so he settles for these sport blocks and stacking cups with a little Buzz Lightyear thrown in there for good measure! ;)


He was very proud of his tower each and every time he built it and kept telling me that he was going to show daddy when he got home from work. *Love this guy!!*

Labor Day 2010

On Labor Day we went over to the Brammer's house around lunch time. Grandpa wanted to take Kolton fishing. Kolton was SO excited! He'd never been fishing or really ever watched anyone fish so I'm not sure how much he understood about the concept of fishing but he was excited nonetheless! He just kept asking and begging to go!
We got there and we got some corn to use as bait and headed down to the creek. Grandpa helped him with the pole and actually catching the fish. They kept trying to look for the big fish and put the bait close so they could catch it.

Kolton almost caught this frog. He was probably an inch away from grabbing it when it jumped away.

We moved to a new spot after no luck at the first and he caught a fish real quick! Brady helped him reel it in and he was beyond excited!

He couldn't wait to show me so I could take a picture!

Grandpa took it off the hook so he could hold it but Kolton just laughed and squealed and stared. He wasn't interested in holding it but he did enjoy looking at it!


He couldn't wait to do it again! Grandpa was able to help him catch another one but a turtle came up behind it as they were reeling it in and ate the fish right off the hook. You can see the fish (mixed in a stick) and then a turtle's head. It was crazy!

After fishing we rode the go-kart. A lot. He rode it several times for a long time! He loves that thing! He loves to do jumps with it and go "up and down."




I have an awesome video of him riding on there but I can't get it to load. :( After this we hung out with the Foys and helped move some more things in to their house and make it more homey. :) It was good to have Brady home on a holiday!

"B"

Brady started his new job this last week. So far he's just been doing a lot of orienteering and learning about the company. It has been nice to be on a schedule again. And great that after his first week he gets a 3 day weekend! Although, I feel like this has been the busiest week I've had in a long time! Every day I have had several things to do.
The puppies are doing well! Its wonderful! I took new pictures of them and posted them on our website this week (www.bjdanes.weebly.com).
We've also decided to sell our Durango. Its been good to us, but we want something smaller. I know--we go back and forth but really we don't need such a big vehicle.
We DVRed Ratatouille a few weeks ago and Kolton has watched it over and over and over. I'm actually not sure how many times he's actually made it through the whole thing because he tends to fall asleep while watching it! ;) He always has his best friends with him, though! ;)

We had school at our house this week. We learned about the letter "B." We colored pictures, learned about what toys and things start with "b", went on a scavenger hunt, played with blue balloons while dancing to music, read books, sang songs, and played! We also played with the puppies--which had nothing to do with the letter "B" but they really like the puppies (even though Kade's puppy peed all over his shorts...)!



They all had a lot of fun!
