Kolton's Baptism: January 2, 2016

On Friday, the 1st, my mom and I headed to the store to pick up some groceries.  Bentley totally sacked out while we were shopping so I had to squish my coat under his head so he had something relatively soft to lay on.  Haha.  A few minutes after we got home Brady and Kolton got home with my dad, Shawn, Cambrea, and Shawn's girlfriend, McKenzie.  They came into town for Kolton's baptism. 

 This was the first time for us to meet McKenzie so we were excited for that and it had been a few years since Shawn and Cambrea had been to Oklahoma so we were exicted to have them here as well.  It was just so great to have so much family in town.  They ate lunch and then set up the car track my dad had bought. 

 We ate spaghetti that night for dinner, I believe, and then we headed out to Braums for some ice cream.  You gotta take visitors to Bruams when they come! :)

My mom and dad stayed in a hotel so late that night, after watching Jurassic Park (my mom had bought that movie for Kolton while she was here that week) they headed to the hotel and then we all went to bed.  Kolton's baptism was the next morning!!

We bought Kolton two new ties for his baptism and let him pick which one he wanted to wear.  Brady taught him how to tie his own tie.  Kolton did a pretty good job!

When my parents got there that morning my mom gave him a couple of tie tacks that she had gotten for him for his baptism.  One was a soccer one with CTR on it and the other was a basketball with CTR on it.  He chose to wear the soccer one that day. 

This is what his program looked like.  We also had the words printed on a piece of paper that we slid into each program. 

Bentley loved watching the water fill up in the tank. 

Our sweet little 8 year old.  He ended up having his baptismal interview right before his baptism because church had been cancelled the Sunday before due to bad weather. 

We set up all the chairs in the Relief Society room and still had to go get more chairs from other rooms so that everyone could have a seat! It was packed and filled with the Spirit.  So, so many people there to support and show love to Kolton.  It was just amazing.  I wish I could have gotten a picture of everyone that was there.  The Himes drove up from Dallas to be there too, so that was awesome! It was so great to see them and so nice of them to make the trip to be here for Kolton!  We had three non-member families come: Rick and Cindy Sims and Robby and Shelly Mosley.  It was great.  I'm going to try and make a list of everyone there..I hope I can remember everyone.

I sure hope I remembered everyone.  It was such a special baptism and the spirit was so strong.  Shawn played a beautiful musical number while Brady and Kolton were getting dressed.  It was awesome.  I failed horribly to get pictures with everyone that was there but I do have a few. 

Dylen and Cheyanna stayed just for Kolton's baptism and then left straight from there to drive back to Utah.  It was super nice of them to stay for him and give the talks for him at his baptism. 

It was such a great day that was so special for Kolton and our family.  I feel so blessed to be a part of it and to have been able to witness Kolton make that promise and take that step. 

Kolton's 8th Birthday!!

The day after Christmas we went up to the church with a couple of families to play.  We brought Kolton's wubble bubble that he got last year for Christmas to play with it.  It ended up getting popped while we were there but the kids had fun with it for a while. It was great to hangout and have fun with some friends after the craziness of the holidays. 

 My mom flew in on the 28th of December.  We were all super excited for her to come! She was going to be able to be here for Kolton's birthday and baptism.  She snapped these pictures of Kolton his last night to go to bed as a 7 year old.  I just love him so much. 

Birthday Boy! 8 years old!! So crazy! He got to have cinnamon rolls for breakfast which he loved, as always! We then got ready and headed to the science museum.  

 He had a blast running from thing to thing.  We were there for hours and he loved every minute of it!

He and Bentley tried out the tornado.  I wish that thing had higher winds but it is still pretty cool. 

 AND...we drew on our faces....Haha.  Gotta love it. 

 I finally found the shadow thing.  I love this thing! I always see pictures of people doing it but had never seen it before.  I think it is so cool! (L to R: Kolton, me, Bentley, Grandma)

 We found this table this time too! And of course had to take a picture with it. 

 We picked up McDonald's on our way home (Kolton's choice) and ate while he opened presents.  We were a little short for time because one of his gifts from Grandma and Grandpa Moffett was tickets to the Thunder game that night! But we had to drop Bentley off at Brady's parents (they offered that day to watch him so we didn't have to take him) before we headed that way so we were going to be cutting it close.  Kolton loved his presents.  Brady and I got him scriptures (that my mom picked up for us) and he was so surprised and happy.  It was sweet! And then when he opened up the Thunder tickets he lit up! It was super cute!

 Our seats were great.  We had our own little row with lots of leg room and only a few other chairs on our row so not a lot of people going in and out and having to stand up for them etc.  It was great! And the Thunder won!!  Woop woop! Always good when that happens! Kolton got to get popcorn and drinks and cotton candy.  He was in heaven. 

 We didn't get home until 10:something but we still sung happy birthday to him and ate some birthday brownies for dessert.  He doesn't love cake so I let him pick something else and he wanted brownies.  They were yummy!

 It was such a great day celebrating Kolton! He was spoiled all day and his day was full of fun things! He is one special boy who has such a desire to do what is right.  He has something about him that just makes people like him and want to be around him.  He is so smart and excels at anything he tries! He is talented athletically, beyond words, and we love watching him develop and play! He loves his family and friends with all his heart and just wants them to be happy.  We are continually impressed by just how amazing he really is.  We get compliments from teachers and friends and passer-bys all the time on his behavior and demeanor.  Means the world to be his parents!

On the 30th my mom and I took the boys and went furniture shopping.  We were getting new furniture delivered that week and I needed to find some end tables.  We went to a ton of stores and never did really find anything I like and that was in my budget.  So frustrating.  I was excited to get our new furniture, though! We had already sold our old stuff and were sitting on camping chairs.  Haha.  That afternoon we went to the dollar theater in Norman and saw the Peanuts movie.  It was cute and the boys liked it. 

 We got our new furniture and it was busted so they are having to replace it another day.  We did feel like the corner was empty, though, so we also bought a chaise lounge to put in the corner. 

New Year's Eve Dylen and Cheyanna came over and watched the Thunder game with us.  Kolton somehow convinced Cheyanna to rub his back and belly.  Haha.  He can sucker that out of anyone...it is insane!  It was a fun evening.
