Fun Times in February (Trip to Omaha and the Fun Run)

I decided to take Bentley to the Science Museum one day and he ate it up.  It was empty there so that was nice! We went with Jaycee and her boys and Bentley had so much fun playing with his cousins.  They've done so much up there recently and have some awesome new areas.

Kolton's team decided to participate in the end of season tournament.  We didn't sign Kolton up for it because most of the tournament (except for one game) was when we were going to be out of town and honestly this team frustrated us.  Haha.  Hardly any of the kids listened to the coach and our coach was super stingy with playing time and wouldn't let kids play more than half of the game.  I understand that but they are getting older and need playing time to develop etc.  Anyway, we got approached by a couple of the parents asking us to reconsider and let Kolton play.  One dad even texted Brady this huge long text begging us to let Kolton play because according to him the team didn't have a chance without Kolton.  Anyway, long story short we decided to let Kolton play in one of the games.  It happened to be on Tuesday evening so Brady had to miss it.  His team won so they got to move on to the winner's bracket.  Unfortunately for Kolton, that was on Saturday when we would be in Omaha and his team ended up losing on Saturday.

Kolton's school did a fun run to raise money for new swings.  You ask people to pledge money per lap you run.  Kolton got a totally of $3/lap pledged ($1 from us and $2 from Grandma Moffett) and he was excited because that got him the prize he wanted.  :) He ended up running a total of 53 laps!! I told him at one point to slow down because I didn't want to pay anymore money haha but then I was told that you are maxed out at 35 laps to have to pay for.  Which I was grateful for! :) I got to help mark laps on the back of the kids shirts as they ran by and that was fun!

We left Thursday after school to drive to Omaha.  It was a long drive there! I don't know if it was because half of it was in the dark and so there wasn't' anything to look at or what but it seemed to take forever! We pulled into their driveway at 11 something.  We were so excited to be there though! They've been gone for 3 years and we've been saying that whole time we'd make a trip up there and just never had the chance.  This was the perfect weekend, though, because Brady had Monday off because it was a holiday and Kolton didn't have any sports games (except for that tournament...but that wasn't planned).  Brittney woke Kade up when we got there and those boys had a super hard time going back to sleep.  Finally at 4 something in the morning Brittney threatened to split them up if they didn't go to sleep.  So the finally went to sleep but then were up at 6 something! Haha.  Those boys were crazy!
Sterling had to work a half day on Friday so we hung around and just enjoyed chatting and catching up.  We went on a double date Friday night to a restaurant called Upstream (I think) and then to an ice cream place.  It was just like old times hanging out with them and we loved it! Saturday we got to go to one of Kade's basketball games and to Scheels to ride the ferris wheel and window shop.

We also got to go see Sterling's dental office! That was fun too! That night Brittney and I went shopping for some last minute Valentine's Day things.  Bentley sacked out at Target and would not wake up!
We went to church on Sunday with them and then came home and got everything ready for dinner.  Kolton's stomach started hurting so he was pretty much forced to lay around all day which was a bummer.  Brittney made her famous country style ribs and they were delicious! Kolton napped through dinner which was sad.

We left Monday morning to go home.  Man it was such a great trip and we had an absolute blast!! So glad we were finally able to get up there and hang out with them for a weekend! It was perfect! The drive home wasn't near as long as the drive out there.  Haha.
And randomly a picture of Bentley at the public library playing on the kid computers.  I don't take him to the library near as much as I took Kolton.  Life is just so much busier now than it was then.  We do get to go there once every couple of months though and I think that keeps it feeling new and exciting for him.  :)

Few More Pictures from January and February

Here are a few more pictures from the snow we got on January 9th.

Sometimes when I look at him eating I am just amazed at how much he has grown up.  He looked too cute eating his pb&j sandwich so I had to take a few pictures.

He got a rash one day.  Never did figure out what it was from and it eventually went away.  It is so weird how his body does this.  There are some things I know cause rashes but then other times they just appear for no reason with no change in diet or soaps or anything.
February 5th I came out of the shower to find Bentley asleep standing up leaning on the chaise lounge.  Haha.

February 5th Kolton had his last basketball game of the regular season.  I had to miss it because I had a girls camp overnight training I had to go to that weekend but Brady said he did awesome.  They went to Braums afterwards.

One day Brady was driving to inspect a house and there was a huge fire on the side of the interstate.  Look how close that was to the road! Crazy!

Nothing more precious than a sleeping baby (or toddler in this case).

Pinewood Derby Race

Kolton's first pack meeting he had as a cub scout was the Pinewood Derby.  The first cub scout activity he went to he was given his car so he could take it home and design it and then bring it back the next week to cut it out.  Kolton decided he wanted to make his as fast as he could and Brady gladly jumped aboard.  They researched and found that a slim design was the fastest design so that is what they did.  He then painted it black so he could add some finishing touches to it later.
One night for basketball (January 21st) the guys were short one guy so they asked Kolton if he wanted to play.  He was ecstatic.  He was a little timid at first but once he got comfortable he got in a groove and did awesome.  His teammates were awesome too and passed him the ball a lot and got him involved a lot so that was nice.  He ended up making 5 baskets, one of which was the game winning shot.  He was on cloud nine!

January 23rd he worked on his car again.  He painted neon green flames on his car.  He did a great job and his car looked super cool!

We also got our curtains hung up in the living room finally that day.  My mom had bought them for us while she was here for Kolton's birthday and baptism but we never got them up.  They are up now, though! And I love them! I need to get a set of curtains for the dining area to match/complement but you know I'm so bad at going and getting things like that done! Haha.  I forgot that we'd need hooks for the curtains too so they are actually just being held to the side with hair ties just so I could get a feel for the look.  (I now have hooks for them haha)

We frequently squish all four of us on the loveseat.  haha.  Poor Bentley, though was sick with a bad cold and passed out a couple minutes after we took this picture.  One night I seriously was up all night with him coughing.  It was bad.  His poor lungs just do not do well with any sort of inflammation in them.

More sick baby/sleepy baby pictures.

The pinewood derby was legit and very official.  The boys didn't even get to put their cars on the track...the people running the race did.  That was kind of a bummer but the kids loved watching it.  The track had a digital timer on there that would show the times of each of the cars once they crossed the finish line so you'd know who won each round.  They had every car race every lane of the track and then whoever had the best average time won.

Kolton ended up getting FIRST PLACE!! It was crazy!! He named his car "Sweeet Ride" and was so ecstatic! I told him not to expect to get first place every year and to enjoy it this year because it most likely will not happen again.  Haha.

My Dad happened to be in town so he got to come to the Pinewood Derby race so that was cool.

On the 30th of January we decided to head to the park to enjoy the beautiful weather.  We happened to decide to go to the park right by Jaycee and Adam so we invited them to join us.  We picked up Subway and McDonalds for lunch and had a little picnic and then let the kids play.  We took them down to the little creek and let them throw and skip rocks.  They had a blast.  Brady had to show us his mad skills and jump the creek.  That was awesome.  He barely made it across but he did! Then he had to figure out how to get back over.  Haha.  It was fun.  We had trouble getting a picture of all the boys together, though.  Haha.

We ended the night with a Braums trip.  :)
