I forgot to include a few things in my last post...
Bentley enjoyed his first sucker on my birthday. Haha. Brady thought it would be fun to give him one and boy did Bentley enjoy it!! He was hooked after first lick! :)
We thought it was funny when we went to check on Kolton before we went to bed and found him all relaxed like this in bed. :)
So, we had a pretty eventful Father's Day. Us adults were inside while the kids were playing outside. All of a sudden London comes running in, white in the face and teary eyed yelling "Kolton is hurt really bad and needs help! Hurry! He's hurt really bad!" My heart dropped. I figured we were going to walk out to a bone sticking out of Kolton somewhere or something. Brady and his dad went running out first. Jeff followed and then a couple minutes later I went out. We found Kolton standing in the driveway with blood all over his face. It was hard to tell what was going on at first. I guess they were playing hockey and London accidentally hit Kolton in the face with the hockey stick. After a few looks I asked if he was missing a tooth. London said "Yeah, I saw it go flying." He ran and picked it up off of the ground. Apparently Kolton's tooth got hit on the bottom of it and it forced it backwards which forced the root to come through his gums. It had ripped through his gums. The tooth next to it was also pushed backwards but it didn't come through. We brought Kolton in and cleaned him up and then he just sat on the couch for about 15 minutes or so. He was practically silent the whole time he sat there. It made me sad for him. I knew he had to be in pain and a little traumatized and it just broke my heart. After he rested for a while he wanted to go back outside and play basketball with his cousins. So we went out with him to watch and make sure he was careful with it.
As Brady said "A hockey stick to the face makes for a great makeover."
That night he put his tooth under his pillow and the toothfairy gave him two $2 bills. I guess since it was lost so traumatically he got double the going rate. :) This picture is the next morning. It looked a little better but still pretty gross.
We went in to Jeff's office on Monday to have some xrays done and look at it to make sure it was ok and didn't need stitches or anything. Jeff said it looked ok and should be fine. I think we will need to look at it again in a few years, though, because it looks like he might need a gum graft but we will see as he grows and his new tooth comes in. He did end up having a piece of bone still in there that Jeff was able to pull out when he got fillings done a couple weeks after this.
We got to see Kit and Shana that week as well. We saw them at church on Sunday and then one day that week we met for lunch at Zio's. It was so fun to hang out and chat with them. Then, on Friday, the 20th, they came up and brought ice cream and we had a blast just chatting and catching up until midnight or so.
Brady's grandma came to town on the 17th, I believe. I've met her once and only got to see her for a couple hours so it was fun to see her again and get to spend some time with her. We had everyone over on the 21st for Brady's birthday and his dad's birthday dinner. Brady grilled some steaks, chicken, burgers, and hotdogs. It was super yummy.
I made a gooey cake and decided to put Reese's on it this time instead of Heath (which is what I normally do). It was divine. Definitely doing it with Reese's again in the future.
Brady got this shot of some of the puppies one morning. We had to put this lattice up to keep the puppies away from the air conditioner.
The night before Brady's grandma left we went over to his parents house to hang out and say goodbye.
As we were leaving Brady saw some fireflies in the yard so he took Kolton over and taught him how to catch them. Kolton caught a few and thought it was so cool! Definitely one of those childhood things every kid needs to experience. :)
Bentley had this weird cold/cough thing that had him wheezing. We borrowed our friend's nebulizer and did breathing treatments with him each night. He loved that thing. The moment you turned it on he would sit completely still and just relax. I think every time we did it he fell asleep during it. It was super sweet.
On Brady's birthday I made him breakfast. He wanted eggs and bacon so that's what I made. Then Kolton wanted to make signs for him so he cut out a bunch of hearts (I drew them for him) and wrote things on them that he liked/loved about him. He wrote some of them and then for the sake of time I wrote some for him. We then went to his work while he was at a lunch meeting and hung them up in his office. Kolton thought it was pretty cool.
That night was Kolton's end of the season soccer party. We had pizza and lots of food to eat. Kolton was super nervous to go at first and wouldn't even go play with the kids when we first got there but after a few short minutes he was having a blast and didn't want to leave when we had to go. It was great to celebrate their season and let him play with all the boys one last time.
After that we came home and put Bentley to bed and then Madison came over and I surprised Brady with a date out for dessert. We went up to Bricktown and walked around Bass Pro for a little bit and then walked over to Marble Slab and had some ice cream. The line there was huge so we got our ice cream and then ate it as we walked back to the car. It was great to get out with him and be able to celebrate him in our lives.
Early Friday morning we had to take a puppy to the airport to be shipped. The boys looked so sweet in the car all asleep.
Monday morning we went to the park. We were supposed to meet Brooklyn, Kashton, and Harper Gulbransen because they were in town visiting their family. They didn't actually get to come, though, until about 15 minutes before we had to leave. It was a bummer.
On July 2nd we finally finished putting up the basketball goal. That is like a 3 day process!! You have to let cement dry in two different stages and it just takes a long time. Its great, though, and Kolton absolutely loves it! We have a great driveway for it too because it is hardly sloped at all and is so big that he has tons of space to play.
