2 Weeks

Our last 2 weeks or so haven't really had much going on in the way of excitement. But, of course I do have a mod-podge of pictures I thought I should post.

We bought Kolton a bag of dum-dums from the grocery store. He loves to have one pretty much every afternoon! I like them because they aren't huge like the tootsie pops so he can put his whole mouth around it and he doesn't get a massive amount of sugar (just a ton :)). It takes him a good 15-20 minutes to eat one and he loves every second! This day he had a blue one apparently and it turned his mouth blue. He loved looking at himself in the mirror and admiring his blue tongue!

Brady took Kolton to Walmart one afternoon and came home with this:

Oh my! He loves it! He plays and plays for minutes on end! Yes, I say minutes, because he doesn't stay THAT occupied! ;) But he really will play for 20 minutes without stopping. It makes me laugh. Last night we came home from Shana and Kit's house (Kolton and I go there while Brady and Kit play football) and it was past time to go to bed. I got Kolton all ready for bed and he said "nigh-night" to Dad, then turned and waved good-bye to his basketball goal and told it "nigh-night" and "see you tomorrow." I thought it was too cute! When I am putting him in his crib I always tell him I love him, nigh-night, and see you tomorrow. He is getting so attached to his basketball goal that apparently he has to say good-night to it too!

A couple nights ago Brady was sitting at the table doing statistics homework. Kolton climbed up on his seat, got a piece of paper from Brady, and did his own homework. He sat there with Brady for quite a while. He is really starting to like to follow him around a lot! He loves to spend time with him lately! I love it! I've even left several times in the last couple of weeks and Kolton hasn't seemed to care! He just plays with his Daddy! Every Sunday we come home from church, eat lunch, and then we take a family nap. This is pretty much the only time Kolton gets to sleep in our bed with us and he LOVES it! I love it too because he'll sleep for 2 hours in our bed, whereas if you put him in his crib, he wakes up 45 minutes later. And you know it takes me like 20 minutes to finally fall asleep so pretty much I would get no nap. Anyway, usually I will cuddle with him and hold him until he falls asleep. Lately, however, he has been asking for Brady to hold him and like to cuddle with him and fall asleep with him. I think it is so sweet! Especially since Kolton didn't used to like that and now he loves it!

Brady graciously offered to watch Kolton and Kade for Brittney and I to do our visiting teaching (well, for one appointment--he was in school for the other). When I came home he told me that the boys sat and watched the tennis for a good 10 minutes. They are so funny! He thought that would make Sterling happy (he played tennis and still enjoys it).

Kolton and I went to the park with Brittney and Kade. I was surprised when Kolton climbed up this little rock wall thing a few times all by himself. I still can't believe he is now closer to being 2 than 1! In 3 1/2 months, he'll be 2!!! It's crazy to me! Although...I am starting to see the "terrible two" attitude come out a little bit! ;)

I was putting Kolton's clothes away one day after doing laundry and decided to put Kolton in his crib to let him play. He jumped and jumped and jumped and thought it was THE best thing ever. However, when he was done, he proceeded to put his foot over the railing and tried to climb out. Oh goodness! I DO NOT want to move him out of his crib! He hasn't ever tried to do it when he wakes up or anything, but I now know I have to watch him. I am just not ready (nor do I think he is ready) to have the freedom a big boy bed brings. He is such a good sleeper and I don't want it ruined!!! Hopefully we can keep him in his crib until he is at least 2!!!

And I don't have a picture, but unfortunately we are now down to 1 vehicle...Yes, we sold our Altima. I will admit, I was a little sad. That's been my car since before I was married. Its the car I bought (with a little help from my parents) for myself. It was exactly what I wanted. I was very picky when buying this car and my dad spent a lot of time trying to find a car that matched everything I wanted. I wanted a white car, with black tinted windows. I wanted a sun roof and all the extra little gadgets. Its been an awesome car for us! However, since Roxy's last litter wasn't successful, we were running low on money. I know it sounds silly to sell the car we had paid off, but we wouldn't be able to get enough for our durango to get the money we needed. We needed cash now, not just lower our future bills. Also, it has a lot more space and is very convenient. So we took the altima to Carmax to see what they would give us (they will buy your car without you having to buy one of theirs). On Kelly Blue Book, our 2001 Nissan Altima, was worth about $2600, trade-in, and a private party value of $4200. Usually, though, Carmax will give you the trade-in value of your car. And, my car has been having a LOT of transmission problems. We've fixed it a couple of times but it just kept getting worse. We knew we wouldn't be able to sell it to an individual because the second they took it out for a drive, they would find out something was wrong. Anyway, they looked at our car and sat down with us to tell us their offer. They went over the things that were wrong with it (like the bumper and hood needed to be replaced-I guess, etc.) and so I was nervous we weren't going to get very much for our car. Then, they told us they would give us $4000 for it. I couldn't believe it! Brady and I were so happy! We really needed the money and the fact that they were offering us more than we thought we were going to get was awesome! I know to a lot of people, $4000 isn't a lot of money, but it got us all caught up and gave us the money we needed! Unfortunately, it is all gone because we has to replace all our tires on the durango and fix brakes and have the alignment done. But, if we hadn't sold the car we wouldn't have had ANY money to do ANY of those needed repairs or pay our bills that were stacking up.
