Utah Trip, Part 5 (the end)

On Sunday we played 5 Crowns (a card game). We gave Kolton old cards for him to play with. For a little bit, he just walked around with them in his mouth. What a silly boy!

He also helped Shawn unload the dishwasher. He does very well with the silverware! ;) Look at how skinny he is! My goodness!

He also really enjoyed playing the piano. Here he is playing away with Grandma!

Kolton loves to tackle people--so if you lay down, watch out because he will come running! Shawn was minding his own on the couch and Kolton came a runnin'!

And then offered a kiss! ;) He gives "closed mouth" kisses now! They are so sweet!

On Monday we went swimming at one of the pools they have there. It was really fun! I forgot to bring Kolton's floaties so my brother, Tyler, had to drive me around to get some so Kolton could enjoy his time there (and me too). :) Kolton even tried swimming on his back!

They do "safety breaks" at this pool I think every 2 hours where everyone has to get out of the pools for 10 minutes to put more sunscreen on or get a drink or use the restroom while the workers look around in the pools for stray things. Here's Kolton taking a break, eating pretzels, looking at Grandma. It was hard the first break to tell Kolton he had to get out. He didn't really understand what exactly was going on and why he couldn't swim anymore.

Shawn took a little break from the "big kid" areas to come and play with Kolton a little.

Every time we go swimming Kolton tries something new. This time he kept putting his ears in the pool. I'm not quite sure what he was trying to accomplish really, but it was funny.


We also got to play some basketball. Kolton loved it!

Kolton also got to play in a basketball goal his own size. He actually made quite a few baskets! I was pretty impressed! About every 3 or 4 throws he would make it in!

One day Tyler had to mow the lawn and so I put Kolton on there for a ride. He was not a huge fan...It was a combination of loud noise and no mommy...

On Tuesday we went to Lagoon! It was so much fun to take Kolton! I thought for sure I would have a hard time getting him on the ride. However, he got in just fine, but then was a little miffed that I did not join him in the little boat. He cried for a few minutes while the loaded some more children in the boats but then we told him he could get back in the stroller after he went on this ride. He stopped crying after that and began ringing the bell. By the time the ride was over he wanted more! He loved them! It was so cute!


"Bulgy the Whale" was his favorite ride. I think he rode it 4 times! And it actually goes pretty fast for a little kid ride! He cried every time it ended and he had to get out but was fine when we got back in line to ride it again.


And of course we rode the carousel a couple of times. He loves those! They are so great and very relaxing for kids!

He rode this ride with Grandma. This ride took a very long time to load and unload-my goodness! They try to keep the weight even I guess so it takes a while. Kolton had fun, though!

We ended with this ride! Kolton thought this was SO fun! It is made for little kids so they don't use pedals to drive, they just turn the wheel and it goes. Kolton was lucky if his went anywhere--he would just go in circles! One time he got it to go straight and he ran right into the curb and couldn't turn around. He loved going in circles, though! He didn't care!
We had such a great time in Utah and are so glad we were able to go out there! We are also super excited that Grandma is coming to Oklahoma for Halloween this year! That will be fun! I can't believe how grown up my family is getting, though! Derek is married! Shawn is going to BYU this fall and then on a mission! Tyler has his drivers license! And Cambrea is in Young Womens! Seriously! Makes me realize just how old I really am!

Utah Trip, Part 5 (becoming an Elder and a few odds and ends)

On Saturday, the day after the wedding, everyone was pretty tired. Kolton didn't want to let anyone sleep, though! He quickly woke Brady up from his afternoon nap!
Since the day of our anniversary was so busy, we didn't get to do anything for it. So, on Saturday, my parents and siblings watched Kolton for Brady and I to go to dinner and go see Harry Potter. We came home between dinner and the movie because we had a couple of hours. My parents were working on cleaning the garage and Kolton was riding the scooter with his uncle Shawn. He really liked that!

I tried to get a picture of Brady laying in their front yard, but he wasn't being too cooperative as you can tell! ;)


Kolton also had fun playing in the car with Cambrea (or "neeew" as he would say).

While we were there, Shawn received the Melchizedek priesthood and was ordained to the office of an Elder. We forgot to take pictures of him after church, so we had him go put his church clothes back on and took a few pictures. He didn't want to put his shoes back on so in some pictures he is barefoot...

Kolton really does wear complete outfits most of the time--I promise! The poor guy, though, had an interesting day at church. My mom and I took him to nursery and let him play in there for Sunday School so that hopefully he would be willing to sit still with me in Relief Society, because we knew he wouldn't last in there by himself. They have such a nice nursery there! It is so structured and ran very well! I was impressed! Anyway, after snack, Kolton was taking a drink (which they don't have in our nursery), got too much water, started gagging, and PUKED all his snack up. Oh my! It was very embarrassing and a little gross. We had to take his vest off and his pants. We cleaned off his shoes so he could wear them. So, then, for the rest of church, he walked around in just his shirt (which was still a little dirty) and shoes. No pants or anything. Yeah, it was awesome! :) When he noticed we were taking pictures of Shawn, he ran over and stood next to him and said "cheeeeese." He loves photo shoots! :)

I obviously had changed my clothes as well, but didn't feel like changing back.

And yes, we are dorks! We have fun though!

And here is a video of Shawn dancing at the reception. It gets blurry for some of it (which makes me rather sad) but really shows his dancing! :) He is teased that when he is dancing he is off in his own world--I'd say that's pretty accurate! ;)

Utah Trip, Part 4 (the Haircut)

Kolton had his hair cut while we were in Utah. He doesn't have a ton of hair , but a lot of the hairs he had were long--too long. So, we decided we would cut his hair in Utah. I originally wanted to cut his hair on Wednesday or Thursday so it would be cut for the wedding, but there just never seemed a good time. So, we cut his hair on Saturday. This was his very first haircut at 19 months, 1 week, and 3 days old on the 8th of August, 2009.

Here is a before picture of his hair. We tried to spike it all out so you could see how long some of those hairs are.
I cut some of his hair around the ears and on the top of his head.

Grandma gave him a sucker to occupy himself with and Shawn gave him a mirror he could look at which quickly became covered in sucker slobber! Yum!

My mom took a break from taking apart the reception centerpieces to cut some of his hair in the back.

Here is an after shot. I like how the hair on the top of his head no longer gets longer and longer as you go towards the crown. It looks much better! I know no one can probably tell that we cut his hair, but it really does look a lot better! I'm glad we were able to do it and that my mom was able to help!

Utah Trip, Part 3 (the luncheon and reception)

The wedding party and family all had a luncheon together at my parent's church building. The food was awesome!
My family: Brady, Dad, Mom, (Lizzie in the background), Shawn, Cambrea, Tyler, Kolton.

A nice little shot of Kolton's rear. If he doesn't have a shirt on this is what he does. He pulls on his diaper or diaper and pants constantly. Sometimes they stay down like they did in this picture.

This is at the reception. Tyler and his friend Christin hanging out at the table waiting for it to start.

During the ring ceremony a movie was shown of Derek and Lizzie growing up and their lives together. They cried and laughed all through it.

They exchanged rings again during the ring ceremony (they did it at the temple too) so everyone could see, even those who weren't able to go in the temple.


This was the cutest thing. At the reception we looked over and Kolton was hugging this little girl so Brady took a picture real fast. She then fell down (she was just learning to walk) and Kolton lifted her with both hands then gave her a hug and a kiss. It was so sweet. The mom of the girl said to Brady, "Love at first site!" :)

Kolton showing off his dance moves. My son danced almost the ENTIRE 2 hours worth of dancing at the reception. It never got old to him. It was so funny! I loved it!

Pierson and Kolton did a little break dancing! :) London decided to stick to the more traditional way of dancing! ;)

Derek and Lizzie left the reception a little after 10:00 I believe. They had such a good time but were excited to go home!

Brady's brother, Jeff and his family live in Provo right now so they came to the reception. It was nice to see them and get to chat a little and let the boys "play" together. Kolton and Pierson thought it would be fun to try and leave the church building a couple of times! Oh goodness! London helped keep them in check, though, and would let us know when they were trying to escape! Thank goodness!
