Christmas Tree

The Monday after Thanksgiving (the 28th of November) we set up the Christmas tree.  I love having a Christmas tree in my house! That day while Brady was at work Kolton helped me get all the boxes down and out of the attic.  He was more excited than I was to set up the tree! When Brady got home from work we quickly ate dinner and then started doing the tree.  Kolton practically did all the ornaments by himself while Brady and I watched on.  He loved, loved, loved it!
We kept asking him if he was done and he kept telling us that we have to do ALL the ornaments! Not just a "lil bit it."

He finished the tree with two branches looking like this.  Covered in ornaments! I was planning on moving the ornaments around once he went to bed to space them out better.  However, later on that evening, one of his ornaments fell.  I picked it up and put it on the tree.  He came out to the living room a little bit later and noticed right away that that ornament was not where he put it.  I couldn't believe he remembered where he had put them all! I decided to just leave the rest of them where he put them.  He was proud of the way he decorated and that made me love it!

Its so much fun to do things like putting up your Christmas tree together.  I love the light in his eyes that he gets when he's so excited to do something! Makes everything worth it! (That night he asked if Santa was going to come since we put up the tree...I felt bad telling him he had a whole month before Santa would come!)

Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving started with baths.  ;) This isn't from Thanksgiving, but I just saw it on my phone and wanted to include it.  Kolton had fun with his hair this time and thought it was so cool that we had to take a picture!
We got up bright and early and headed to South Moore's football field to watch Brady play football.  We stopped at 7-Eleven to get my annual hot chocolate.  I got one for Kolton too and told Brady that he'd probably take one sip and then be done.  Guess who was right?! :) When we got there Kolton decided he wanted to run around the track that goes around the football field.  I video taped it on my phone but he's so small that its hard to see him.  He ran around more than half of the track before deciding it was too cold.  I was impressed, though! His little legs were moving so fast! When he got back to us, Adam Smith offered him one of the donuts that were there for the men.  Kolton jumped on that one! :) We had fun watching the guys play! Brady played quarterback for most of the game and did really well.  Kolton would yell "Go Daddy!" really loud and would then follow it up with "Daddy! I love you!!" About 3/4 of the way through Kolton really wanted to go play with the big guys.  Unfortunately for him, he still has several years before he's old enough to do so :) but Bishop Orr was kind enough to play some football with Kolton.  They passed the ball back and forth some, but most of the time was spent with Bishop holding the ball for Kolton and Kolton kicking it.  He had a blast!
We were in charge of bringing deviled eggs (well, actually, I'm not asked to bring these...I just bring them because I love them!), mashed potatoes, and a pie.  Earlier that week I was chatting with my friend, Liz Smith, and she mentioned that she loved deviled eggs but didn't know how to make them, so on Thanksgiving morning I made a double batch and we took some over to her for them to enjoy.  They ended up giving us a pie in return so we ended up on top! :) I rarely make mashed potatoes...mainly because I am not good at it.  They either end up too potato-y or too milky...I just can't figure it out.  I will say, though, the mashed potatoes I made on Thanksgiving were really good! Brady even loved them! I was proud! :) We headed over to the Brammer's at 12:30 or so for our 1:00 dinner.  We all ate the traditional, yummy Thanksgiving foods and then headed outside to play some games.  It was super freezing that morning, but that afternoon it was really nice! We played good ol' four square.  I seriously had not played that since elementary school and had to be reminded of the rules.  It was so much fun, though! It was great to be out and doing something instead of just sitting around like you usually do right after you eat Thanksgiving dinner.

Kolton and London had fun cheering us on! They would even go run after the ball for us when it would go rolling away so we didn't have to.  :)
I pretty much got out any time the ball came in to my square.  Haha.  Ok, not literally...but it was pretty close to that! I still had fun, though! I think I made it to the "king square" one time, so that's pretty good! :)

Some people thought it was funny to team up and work together to get people out...namely Brady and his mom.

After four square we tried our hand at jump rope.  That was fun too! I put this picture in because it makes me laugh.  :)
Kolton picked up on the jump roping super fast! If you didn't know any better you'd have thought he'd been jump roping for a while because he did awesome!
We had a good Thanksgiving and are so lucky to have so many things to be grateful for! I'm so glad we have a holiday that forces us to recognize our blessings! It was a good day!
I was reading blogs and realized I forgot to put this in here...Kolton made this at the Foys one day while I was at work.  I'm not sure why he wrote his name backwards but it makes me laugh.  ;) Brittney explained to them what being "thankful" means and asked them to tell her what things they are thankful for.  The list that Kolton came up with is:
-The prophet--President Monson
-Toys (they are cool)
-Daddy and momma (love each other)
-Soap, bath clean (I think he copied this one from Kade)
-Go to jumpzone and park
-Church
-New bed and own tv in my room
-Games
-Watch birds outside
I think that is such a sweet list! I love it!

Cars 2

(Yes, two posts in one day!)
On November 5th Brady and I were lucky enough to be able to go listen to an apostle of the Lord speak in our church building.  Elder L. Tom Perry came to our stake for stake conference.  Saturday night was the adult session.  It was great to be able to go and listen to him speak to us without any kids running around and distracting us.  ;) It was great to be reminded that Christ is the center of our church and we need to be examples and strive to be Christ-like people throughout our lives.  After the adult session we left and picked up Kolton from our friend's house, the Smiths.  They hired Madison to babysit their kids during the adult session and offered for us to bring Kolton over there too, so that's what we did.  Kolton had a lot of fun playing with their kids! We then went home and started to watch the LSU/Alabama game (number 1 and number 2 teams respectively).  At about 11:00, we started to hear a really loud rumble and then the whole house started shaking pretty hard.  It lasted about 40-50 seconds.  We quickly grabbed Kolton from bed and took him outside.  He didn't even notice a thing and we were able to put him right back in bed after it was done and he went right back to sleep.  Turns out the earthquake was a 5.6--largest one in Oklahoma! I've never felt an earthquake before, so that was kind of cool, but kind of scary too!

The next day was the regular session of stake conference.  I was pretty worried about seating so Kolton and I got there at 9:00.  We ended up sitting about half way back in the gym.   This session was just as great as the session the night before and I really enjoyed it.  Kolton didn't distract me too much so I was able to listen to most of it.  Elder Perry gave a great talk.  He's actually a pretty funny guy.  Anyway, at one point during his talk he was talking about how the prophet came to stay at his house when he was a little boy and how nervous he would get around him.  One morning the prophet had overslept so his parents sent him in his room to wake him up.  He was terribly nervous, not knowing how the prophet was going to respond, but much to his delight the prophet was very sweet and picked him up and talked to him for several minutes about growing up to be a righteous young man.  Elder Perry picked one of the primary children who were sitting on the stand (they were the choir for stake conference) and had him come up and stand by him.  The boy was 8 I think and was very well behaved.  He stood right next to Elder Perry and just looked up at him and paid close attention to every word Elder Perry was saying.  It was so sweet to watch.  I hope my son grows up to be like that little boy! What a special experience for that boy as well! After conference was over I took Kolton up to the front with Brittney and her kids to shake Elder Perry's hand.  Kolton was so excited to be able to shake an apostle's hand.  As we were getting closer to Elder Perry we passed Sister Bean and her kids, Sister Perry, and Sister Luke (our Patriarch's wife) sitting on the bench.  We stopped and chatted with them and then it was our turn to say hi to Elder Perry.  Kolton walked right up to him and shook his hand and then looked at me with the sweetest smile.  He was so excited he got to meet an apostle and I was so happy for him.  Elder Perry is such a sweet and loving man who loves to serve the Lord and the people around him.  I feel really blessed to have been able to participate in this stake conference with him here.
That night Brady and I were sitting on the couch and we felt another earthquake! This one was a 4.7 and lasted about 35 seconds.  Even though it was smaller then the one from the night before, it was closer to us and so it felt a lot stronger.
On Mondays I go couponing (love it!) to CVS, Walgreens and sometimes Target and Walmart depending on what the deals are.  Kolton has come to actually really enjoy going to these stores with me.  This particular Monday we were pulling in to Walgreens and Kolton goes, "Mom! Walgreens!" I said, "Yep, we're going to Walgreens." He responded, "Mom, its like wall and green--Walgreens!" He thought it was so cool that the name Walgreens consisted of the two words--wall and green.  Its neat to watch him figure things out like that.
On November 7th the Disney Cars 2 tour came to Oklahoma City (sponsored by State Farm).  Brady heard about it at work that morning and said I should go.  It was up at Quail Springs Mall.  It started at 12:00, I believe.  Kolton and I got there at like right at 2:00.  We waited in line for an hour and a half before we got to the cars.  Kolton was SUPER excited! Before we got in line we stopped at the trailer and took a couple of pictures.

Kolton brought his Francesco little car he got from the store the day before.  He was hoping they'd have a real life Francesco for him to see.

When we got in there they gave the kids a magnet.  Then each kid got to take a picture with each car.  First was Mater, then Flyn, then Lightning McQueen.  They took pictures of the kids too and gave you a card that had the picture information on it.  You could go online and look at the pictures.

As we left they gave you a Cars 2 mug and a bag with a bunch of cars 2 stuff (coloring book, crayons, stickers, decals, car freshener, sham-wow etc.).  Kolton thought it was pretty cool which made the almost 2 hour wait worth it!

On November 12th I told Brady I'd give him a pedicure that night.  While I was working on his feet, Kolton came out of his room and asked what I was doing.  He then sat there and watched each step and asked if I would do him after daddy and if I'd do it just like I did daddy's.  So I did.  :) He had to have his pants just like daddy had his pants.  As I was rolling them up he asked me, just to check, if I did this with daddy's pants.  He loved his pedicure.  It was too cute.  He'd laugh and laugh as I'd scrub and clean his feet.  By far his favorite part, though, was getting his toe nails painted clear.  He thought it was SO cool that he was finally being allowed to get his toe nails painted--even if it was just clear.

Kolton loves to pose for me.  Seriously.  We were at the park and he said he wanted to lay like these next couple pictures so I could take pictures of him.  I'm thinking he's had a lot of pictures taken of him throughout his life! :)  He's so hilarious! The Monday before Thanksgiving Brady had a half day because he worked the Saturday before.  He thought it would be fun to go rent a car racing game from Blockbuster for Kolton and him to play that afternoon.  I guess I was being cranky at the time they were going to leave so I was "uninvited" to go with them.  I really didn't want to be left behind (nor did I want to send them to a store alone--you know what happens when that happens!) so I asked if they'd reconsider and let me come along.  Kolton did not want me to come! :) He wanted just him and daddy to go.  I kept pestering him and asking him to let me go (in a playful way) but he responded with "You're stretching me out!" (in a not so playful way :)).  It made me laugh that he thinks the saying is "stretching" and not "stressing." Kind of sad, too, though, that apparently I say that to him.
He's just too cute, though! See that scratch on his arm?? I was sewing Brady's blanket one night and had pinned it up on one side.  Kolton came and leaned on the blanket as I was sewing.  I didn't even think about what he was doing or how that could go very wrong.  He went to slide down on to the ground and his arm caught a pin and totally cut him all down his arm.  It was so sad! He was totally shocked as to what had just happened! Its getting better now, but for a couple of days we weren't allowed to touch it.  :)
One more quick story...Kolton and Brady were watching football and Brady asked Kolton what position Kolton would like to play if he played football.  Quarterback? Runningback? Receiver? Kolton responded with "I want to be the one that gets all the touchdowns and FIRST DOWNS!" It made us laugh.  He recently has learned what a first down is and why it is important and I'm glad he is understanding the game a little more!
Alright...now on to Thanksgiving! :)

Second Half of a Very Special Visit

On Monday we went to Jumpzone.  Kolton had been planning for a very long time to go to Jumpzone on Monday with Grandma and Cambrea.  He was VERY excited.  We hadn't been there in quite a long time so that made him even more anxious! The place was pretty empty while we were there, so that was so nice! Kolton and Cambrea ran around and went down all the slides.  ;)

We invited Vanessa and her boys and they joined us after about an hour or hour and a half.  The boys had fun playing air hockey and swinging on the tire swing.  They thought it was so fun! Their giggles were all just too cute!
That afternoon we went to the mall for Cambrea to buy some clothes.  Kolton loves to go to the mall and play! Its funny, though, because every time we go to the mall and we walk past Candyopolis Kolton says "if daddy were here I could get candy." Haha.  I guess I'm the mean one.  :)
That evening was Halloween.  I couldn't decide if I wanted to take Kolton trick or treating or go up to north Edmond to Storybook forest.  We ended up deciding to go trick or treating.  I wanted Kolton to be able to have the fun of running from house to house to get his candy and I didn't want to drive an hour to the forest.  ;) Kolton absolutely LOVED doing the traditional trick or treating.  We went to a different neighborhood again this year hoping for more houses to trick or treat to.  It wasn't that bad, but really...its like no one trick or treats anymore.  Anyway, it was cute to watch Kolton get all excited as he got to each house.  I think we did like 3 streets and then decided to head home.  I really think Kolton would have done more but we were running out of houses.  ;) We then drove over to Grandma and Grandpa Brammer's to trick or treat to them.  Kolton and Brady tried to scare Grandma and Grandpa by hiding and jumping out at them.  They thought that was pretty funny.  :) We stayed there for a little bit and chatted and then went home.
On Tuesday we went to the park because we didn't get to go on Monday (that was Kolton's plan--jumpzone then park).  I wish we would have gone Monday because Monday was nice outside--Tuesday was BEYOND windy! Kolton had fun though! Him and Cambrea started in a game of hide and seek.  Where Cam would hide, Kolton would hide next.  :)

They also went down the slides several times together.  Kolton loves those slides!

We had fun with this little blue whale.  :) Kolton rode in it first and then I had a turn.  It was fun and all but then I couldn't get out.  Like seriously.  Cambrea had to pull me out the back to get me out.  :) Then Cam wanted a turn in it and could not get out either.  She ended up sliding out the front.  It was funny to watch! Then Kolton told us he'd show us how to get on and off of it so next time we wouldn't get stuck.  ;)
Kolton wanted to stand on this ledge and have Grandma spot him from behind.  He'd stand tall on the ledge and then make himself fall either forward or backward and Grandma had to catch him.  He thought it was hilarious!
Tuesday night Brady gave everyone rides on his motorcycle.  First he took Kolton.  Usually Brady just goes down our driveway, down the street to our neighbor's driveway, up it, and then across the grass to our house.  So not long at all.  This time he took Kolton down a few houses and back.  Kolton thought it was SO cool!

Cam had a turn next.  She thought it was super cool to ride (and she looked so cute!).

I then took a short ride.  Kind of scary, kind of fun.  ;)

Kolton really wanted to wear a helmet and go on a long ride with daddy.  He didn't make it very far...his helmet was WAY too big! ;) It was funny to watch!

Tuesday night my mom treated Cam and I to pedicures.  It had been too long! I loved it! Cam got a super cool design on her toes! Wish I had a pic! ;( We went to basketball after we were done with our toes and we took a picture with my mom's phone of all our feet and sent it to my dad to see if he could tell our toes apart (because they are all really different!).  He totally failed! Haha.
Since it was the last night here Kolton had Grandma and Cambrea sleep in his room with him! Lucky, lucky boy! He loved having them sleep in his room with him!
They left to go back to Utah on Wednesday afternoon.  Brady, Kolton and I had SO much fun with them here and wish their stay could have been longer! Kolton was super sad to see them go and wished he could have gotten on the plane with them to go back to Utah.  We are going out there in February when my brother gets home from his mission and he can't wait! He talks about it all the time!
