The Weekend

Saturday was such a busy day for us! It started with a cold and rainy soccer game for Kolton.  His game was at 10:00.  It was all drizzly that morning but when his game actually started there wasn't any rain at all so it wasn't bad! Kolton's team did really well and won 14 or 15 to 0 (the Y doesn't keep score, but I do! :)).  Kolton and Kade each scored 4 goals.  Andrew Himes scored 1 goal and then blocked a goal from the other team.  Then there were two other kids on our team that score a few goals each.  Anyway, they played really well and it was fun to watch!  

 We came home from the soccer game at 11:00 or so and showered and got ready for Pierson's birthday party at 1:00.  Brady came home from work and we left and went to the party.  It was an OU football party.  Vanessa had asked me if I'd help paint all the kids faces (there were a ton of kids!) so we did that at the beginning.  Each kid got to choose whether they wanted a football or OU on their face.  They then played games and ate food.  At the end of the party they were all outside and Brady went and played football with them for a good 15-20 minutes.  He'd throw the footballs high in the air and they'd try and catch them.  Everyone seemed to have a good time! 

We left there at about 3:15.  

We went home for about an hour or so before we headed to Moore's Big Wheel Races.  They had to move the event inside the community center because it was all rainy outside but it was still fun.  They had different booths and activities kids could do.  We met Mark and Jill Himes and their kids there at about 4:45.  Jill even got in on the action and did some hula hooping and won a pie.  :) 

 They had free helmets there so we got one for Kolton.  He wore it around almost the whole time we were there.  :) We also visited the clowns and he got a belt and sword.  

 They also had free food there (burgers, hotdogs, chips, drinks, sno cones etc.).  

 Kolton tried to hula hoop. It took him a few tries but he started to get it. He'd make it go around him a few times before it would start to fall.   

 The Foys got to the races at like 5:30 I think but it was so crowded that Brittney stayed over by the door with her stroller and Sterling, Kade, and Emery came and sat by us.  I tried to save them seats behind us and had put my stuff on the bench but then a family came and another person moved all my stuff and told them they could sit there...I was so caught off guard that I didn't say anything.  Haha.

 Kolton and Andrew happened to be put in the same heat and in lanes right next to each other.  They were in heat 3, lanes 6 and 7 for the 4 year olds.  

 Kolton has never rode a big wheel so he was concerned he wouldn't know how to ride it but we told him he'd be fine and that it was really easy.  Turns out, when the race started, his big wheel wouldn't move.  Haha.  Brady and the lady running it had to give him a push to get him going.  He still had fun, though! 

 Kade raced in the 7th heat, I think.  It was a fun night for the kids! I'm glad we were able to do it!

We got home from the races and Brittney came to our house and we changed and got ready to go to the Relief Society broadcast.  Jill came by and picked me up and we headed over to the church.  We got there as it was starting and so the only seats available were on the very front row.  Not a big deal except our necks hurt by the end from looking so far up to see the speakers.  Haha.  It was a good meeting, though.  The speakers talked a lot about finding comfort from Christ in times of hardship or trial.  A lot of speakers spoke about children and babies dying.  President Eyring even talked about his granddaughter that was just born 15 weeks early and only weighed 1 lb 11 oz.  A lot of their stories brought back a lot of memories of Lillian and how at times I've felt completely overwhelmed by the sadness of it but have received a lot of comfort from my Savior and testimony of the plan of salvation.  

Sunday night Kolton helped me make no-bake cookies.  I seriously stink at making chocolate chip cookies so I figure you can't mess up no bakes.  Haha.  Brady had let Kolton help him make lunch earlier that day and had taught Kolton a bunch of cooking safety so Kolton was excited to remember and use his knowledge again.  :) 

 I let Kolton drop the cookies on the wax paper and he decided to make it in the shape of an A.  

It was a busy, but very fun weekend! 

SleepOver

On Wednesday, the 26th, Brady and I went to the temple with the youth to do baptisms.  Brittney offered to watch Kolton for us while we were there.  About an hour or so before it was time to go she called me and asked if Kolton could stay the night that night instead of us coming and picking him up afterwards.  Kolton was pretty excited about it! Brady and I had a really good time with the youth at the temple.  There was only 2 adult leaders there (usually we have 3) but the girls did a really good job keeping the bathroom/dressing room clean themselves so Michelle and I didn't have to really worry about that.  It was great! 

Kolton seemed to have a good time at the Foys too.  I called on our way home and he was not interested in talking to me.  He literally said "Hi, Love you, Bye." The end.  Haha.  

Brittney sent me some pictures of them dressing up in costumes.  :) 

That night at like 10:00 I think, Brittney called me and said that Kolton was having a little bit of a hard time and wanted to come home.  She said she wanted to keep him there but wanted to check with me to make sure that was ok.  I told her if she was ok dealing with it, then I'd rather him stay.  I know that sounds terribly mean of me, but I just didn't want him to think he could play play play and then when it was time to go to sleep to call me and have me come get him (this is the second time he's done this).  Anyway, she ended up getting him to be happy again and put him to bed. He and Kade kept sneaking out of bed and played until almost 11:00 when she said it was time for bed! She then said he was up at about 7:00 the next morning! Kolton usually goes to bed at about 9:00 and then wakes up anywhere from 7:30-9:00, so he was a tired boy the next day. 

Thursday afternoon, after school, Jill invited us over for some hot chocolate.  It had been cool and rainy all day so it was a perfect day for it! So after I picked Kolton up we went over to their house and stayed for about an hour and drank hot chocolate and let the kids play.  

 Thursday night Brady had a meeting at work at 7:15.  I turned on a tv show for Kolton when Brady left and at 7:45, I came out to the living room and he was totally sacked out on the couch.  :) 

Friday morning I watched Emery and Halley while Brittney took Kade to the dentist to have surgery on his mouth.  Kolton and Emery were so cute together.  She brought out the very sweet side of Kolton and he was overly nice to her the whole time.  It was sweet.  

You can tell they had a good time playing together by looking at the mess in his room! Haha.  

 Brittney came to pick them up at about 11:30 or so.  Kolton quickly showered and then I made him a blue mickey mouse pancake for lunch before heading to school.  

Friday night Brady's parents offered to watch Kolton for us so we could go out. We did some shopping and had a really good time together! Kolton had a fun evening with Brady's parents as well.  He got to play basketball while we were gone.  They played pig, horse, tiger etc.  

It was a great start to a fun and busy weekend! 

Primary Talk

Kolton gave a talk in primary on Sunday, the 30th.

Heavenly Father gives us commandments to follow.  A commandment is a divine rule from Heavenly Father that is very important to follow.
Heavenly Father promises to bless us when we obey the commandments.
One of the blessings we can get by obeying the commandments is to feel happy knowing that our Heavenly Father is pleased with our decision.
One of the commandments we have been given is to love one another.  One way we can obey that commandment is to be nice to our friends.
This week one of my friend's little sister, Emery, was at my house.  I was playing golf with my golf set.  Emery wanted a turn to play golf so I let her have a turn playing golf while I watched her and cheered for her.
I felt happy knowing I was kind to her and was obeying the commandments.
I know we can be happy when we obey the commandments.

It was so sweet as he said it! I loved it!

OK State Fair 2012

We went to the Oklahoma State Fair on Tuesday, the 18th. Brady had a half day and so we went right after he got off at 1:00 and just didn't take Kolton to school that day.  First thing we did was grab some food for lunch.  Brady had some sort of burger with cheese in the middle of it and Kolton and I had a corn dog.  We also got some jugs of root beer too.  

 We went through some of the buildings and saw animals and such.  We came across these one horses that were huge! They were super cool! Brady especially loved them! 

 This horse really liked Brady.  He'd bend his head down so Brady could rub along his neck and by his ears. Another couple came over to see the horse and so Brady stepped away.  The other couple kept trying to get the horse to come to them and he wouldn't.  After a minute or two Brady went back up to the stall and the horse came right to him and bent his head down again for him to rub him.  It was cool.  

 Brady was super excited about getting chocolate dipped cheesecake on a stick again this year and Kolton really wanted cotton candy so we got those for them! :)

 Kolton had so much fun on all the rides.  It is so fun to watch him have such a blast! He loved this slide! I think he went down it 3 times.  

 For some reason he did not want to go on these swings but I made him.  Haha.  Once they started he LOVED it! I keep telling him "mom always knows best" but he just never believes me.  Haha.  

 Brady and Kolton loved this new chocolate dipped cookie dough on a stick with sprinkles on it. They totally would have gotten another one if they weren't $6 a piece! 

 We went and checked out all the new cars.  Kolton went straight to the new mustang and wanted to pretend to drive it.  

We stayed at the fair for about 5 hours and had such a great time! I'm so glad we got to go again this year! 

Brady loved the cookie dough so much that he wanted to make his own so on Friday night we went and bought some cookie dough and chocolate and made some ourselves.  The boys really liked it! 

 Last week Kolton brought two of these home from school.  He got caught doing something good twice in one day! He thought that was pretty cool! 

 He's been really interested in his numbers lately.  He counts to 100 about 10 times a day and wants you to listen each time.  Its cute.  The other day he wanted to write all his numbers (or my brother said you are supposed to say "draw your numbers"...I don't know).  I think he got up to 24 and then ran out of room.  

 Seriously he's getting so big!! Brushing his teeth while sitting on the counter.  haha. 

 On Friday Kolton and I went shopping.  One of the places we went was Gordmans and Kolton found this OU jersey that he just had to have! We picked out Kenny Still's number for him.  He loves this thing!! I think he's worn it 3 times since then! And it was way cheap since it was at Gordmans! 

 Saturday morning we went and watched Pierson and London play in their soccer games.  Kolton didn't have a game on Saturday and Brady didn't work so it was the perfect week to go.  It was fun watching them play! 

Saturday night I went out to dinner with some friends.  Angela planned a GNO to say goodbye to one of our friends from church who is moving to Germany.  It was fun!  

Monday night we went to the "dollar" theater in Norman and saw The Avengers.  We never did make it to the regular theater to see it and so when I saw that it was at the dollar theater I figured it would be fun to go. Kolton was pretty excited!! 

 We got way too much popcorn and had a good time.  :) Kolton LOVED the last 30 minutes of the movie where all the characters are all there.  I wondered about taking my little 4 year old to a PG-13 movie but he did ok.  I still don't know how great of an idea it was but he loved the movie! 

Last Swim of the Summer

We went swimming for the last time this year on Wednesday, September 12th.  It was supposed to be like 91 on Wednesday and then on Thursday it was supposed to drop down to 71 so we thought Wednesday would be a good day to go.  :) We got there at 9:30 and it was a little chilly still.  We were so lucky, though, because the Beans turned the heater on for us! It was so nice! We went swimming with the Foys, Widdisons, and Himes.  It was a good time!

 When we got home Kolton wanted to take some pictures with me.  We took about 5 before this where I was supposed to make a funny face with him but none of my "funny faces" were funny faces according to him.  This one pleased him.  haha.  

That night I had my first presidency meeting with our new primary presidency.  It was good and we made a list of all the things we need to do. Friday morning Kolton and I went to jumpzone with Kashton, Harper, and Brooklyn Gulbransen. They were moving the following Sunday (the 16th) and so we wanted to get together before they left.  I thought it opened at 10:00 so we got there then and realized that they didn't actually open until 10:30 so we went to Once Upon a Child until then.  I actually found Kolton's Halloween costume while we were there for $10, so that was great! After jumpzone Kolton started coughing a ton so I decided to keep him home from school.  He was SUPER sad about missing school--especially since it was fun Friday/popcorn day.  That night we got dinner and rented Captain America and Snow White and the Huntsman and had a good night! Saturday Brady worked and Kolton had a soccer game.  We were in charge of the snack so that morning Kolton and I went to Walmart and picked some stuff up.  His game was at 11:00.  About half way through the game it started sprinkling and it sprinkled for the rest of the game.  We came home and then at 4:00 went to Andrew Himes' birthday party.  Kolton had such a good time! He told me when we got in the car that it was the best birthday party ever! :) After the party we headed to the Bittles' home for Spencer's homecoming party.  He had just returned from his mission in California on the 11th.  It was so great to see him and all his family.  Shana came in to town for it so we got to see her which was great (even though it was only for like 20 minutes).  

Late Saturday night/early Sunday morning Brady started coughing a ton so he and Kolton stayed home from church and napped.  :)

 These pictures are from church on the 9th of September.  This is the first time that Kolton has really drawn a body for his people. This picture is of him and Kade playing ball together.  :) 

 I was also impressed with this picture he brought home from Primary that he did by himself.  He's getting so big!
