Spring Break

On Tuesday, the 12th, I gave Kolton a much needed hair cut.  I'm not sure when the last time was his hair was as long as it was.  It was crazy! I think it had been 3 months since he had had a haircut! Haha.  He loves his haircut and keeps asking me if his haircut is still there.  Haha.  

Wednesday I went to lunch with Brady.  It was fun! I think we just went to Taco Bell but I love getting to do that once a month or so.  Its great! 

 Thursday morning I watched the Himes so they could go to the temple.  The kids had fun playing all morning.  After work that night Brady took his final for his accounting 1&2 class that he was taking online.  He got 100% on it! It was awesome! While he was doing that I went to Kolton's parent/teacher conference. His teacher had only nice things to say and went on and on about him.  She said that everyone always wants to sit by Kolton...especially the girls.  She said he seems to notice and will try and take turns with them.  Haha.  She also said that he is so obedient and that she never has to repeat herself with him.  She said almost every day she finds herself saying "Look at Kolton...everyone should be doing what he's doing..." She also said that he is very smart and knows almost everything before they even learn it in class and then the things he doesn't know he learns right away.  As we left she said that he clearly has good parents and role models because he is such a great kid.  It was a good conference.  Brady and I are proud of him.  

 Friday afternoon I went up to the temple with Angela and all our kids and I took some pictures of Braeden for her.  He's getting baptized this week and she wanted to make announcements to pass out.  It was fun! 

Friday night we went to the circus.  We got some tickets for free and it was fun! It was Brady's first time to the circus, so that was fun too.  We had 4 tickets so we let Kolton bring a friend.  We got a huge bag of cotton candy and some sno cones.  

 We left at intermission (which was at 9:15!).  We had a good time.  I really love the circus.  

On Monday, Kolton and I met Vanessa and her boys at Little River Park for them to play.  We stayed for about 45 minutes and then left because it was SO cold.  It was super windy and just really cold.  We came to our house and they played for probably another 45 minutes or so.  Then, that afternoon I had to run some errands and Kolton wore his batman costume.  He thought it was so cool to wear it out in public.  I also got gas that afternoon and it was only $3.44 (at $3.29 a gallon).  I fill up once a week no matter how much gas is in my tank, just to make budgeting easier and I couldn't believe how little I had driven in the last week.  Haha.  

 Monday night we went to the park again (it had gotten warmer) and Kolton played.  He wore his costume to the park that evening too.  It was hilarious to watch.  I'm glad he's enjoying being a boy.  :)

Tuesday I cut Brady's hair.  He needed a hair cut too.  Then Kolton and I went to Andy Alligators.  We hadn't been there in a really long time.  Kolton loved it and just ran from game to game.  When we got home he said, really emphatically "Thanks mom for taking me there!!" It was sweet.  

 Wednesday I went to work and Kolton went to the Himes.  He played outside the entire time I was gone, except to come in to eat.  Haha.  Proof of his play is in his jeans... :) 

 Thursday we slept in (Brady had the day off) and then I made breakfast.  We had sausage, eggs, toast, and bacon.  It was yummy! That afternoon Kolton beat Skylanders.  He thought that was pretty cool.  

Friday we went to Teds for lunch.  It was SO good! We hadn't been in a really long time!! That afternoon/evening we watched The Hobbit and ate our leftovers from Teds.  :) 

Saturday morning Kolton had a soccer game.  It was seriously so cold.  38* actually.  His team won 7-4 against a team that last year stomped them so that was exciting! Kolton scored 3 goals and Beckett scored 4 goals.  Kolton, on one play, blocked a goal then took the ball all the way down the field and scored.  It was awesome!

Monday, the 4th, I watched the Foys so that Brittney could run some errands.  She had several things she needed to do before they left for Utah later that week so she asked me to watch her kids for a few hours for her so she could take care of some of them.  The kids had a lot of fun playing and spent a lot of time outside.  

That afternoon Brady and I went to sign our taxes.  We are so frustrated with our taxes but sat down with the CPA and he explained some things we could do so that hopefully next year we won't be in the same situation we are in this year.  Let's hope!! 

Also on Monday, a 12 year old kid took a loaded gun to one of the Moore elementary schools. All I could think about was what if it was Kolton's school? How scary! And where were this kid's parents?! Anyway, makes you think just how wicked and scary things are getting here on Earth.  

Monday night Kolton had his first soccer practice.  He was so excited but really nervous too.  He loved it and I love his team.  He has really good coaches and I'm so excited for this season.  I think he is going to learn a lot and will be challenged in the games which will help him grow as a player as well.  There's 6 kids on his team (Beckett Bailey (his dad is the coach), Kolton, Kade, Evan (friend of the Baileys), Ethan Lancaster (his dad is assistant coach), and Cody Craft (friend of the Baileys)).   

Tuesday Brady got off early and we went to a late lunch to Urban Grill.  Love their chocolate cake!! Yum yum! Tuesday night was also basketball.  

Wednesday I had a presidency meeting and then when I got home we went and got ice cream.  Kolton was recognized at school for his extra good behavior and so Brady wanted to take him out for a treat.  

Thursday I went to work and totally wore two different earrings.  I didn't even notice until well after work.  I was pretty embarrassed.  Haha.  Oh well.  Brady had to open and close at the bank that day so he worked a 12 hour day and didn't get home until 7:30 that night.  Before he got home I went outside with Kolton and watched him play soccer.  It was so nice out.  He had a ton of fun out there and I took some pictures.  

 After Brady got home we ate dinner and then just vegged and watched the Thunder game.  

 I also got out 2011 blog book in the mail! I was pretty excited!! Unfortunately, there were several ink splotches and whatnot on the cover and throughout the book so I contacted Blurb and they are sending me a new one.  I still love it, though! I don't know what I'm going to do with the messed up book, though.  Seems weird to throw it away but I don't know what I'd do with two of the same book.

 Friday I watched Reese and Owen Finnestad while their dad, Ross, was at work and their mom, Angela, was out of town for her grandpa's funeral.  Kolton had a really fun time having friends over and they just played and played and played.  Friday night we went to the Hime's for dinner and Brady helped Mark work on their swing set they had bought this last week.  They didn't get too much done before it got dark but were still able to do a few things.  We had a good time hanging out and eating yummy food.  Jill made beans and enchiladas and I brought a salad.  I then also brought brownies and ice cream and stuff for strawberry shortcake.  It was some delicious food! 

Saturday morning Kolton had his first soccer game of the season.  I was worried all week that it would get rained out because the forecast showed thunderstorms on Saturday.  I was so worried about it Friday night that I didn't sleep well.  Haha.  Yeah, I'm that crazy! Anyway, he ended up being able to play! It was just super windy and a little misty but not too bad.  Kolton's jersey still hasn't come in yet so we had him wear a green shirt.  Brady then also took some athletic tape and put his number on the back of his shirt.  

 Kolton's team won 6-5.  They were down 5-2 at the end of the third quarter and then they scored 4 goals and didn't let them score anymore.  It was so fun! Kolton scored 4 goals and then also stopped 2 goals.  He was out there playing his hardest.  So fun to watch! I am really happy that we decided to join Southlakes instead of doing the Y again.  The ref was a legitimate ref who stayed on top of the clock and would stop it any time the ball went out of bounds etc. and kept track of the score and marked it on the score card that the coaches got at the end of the game.  It is just much more organized.  And the kids that play are kids who actually want to play and aren't just being forced to be in a sport by their parents.  Anyway, I just really like it.  Kolton worked really well with his team too and tried to do anything he could to help them.  He'd give high fives and cheer for them and everything.  It was great to watch! 

After the game I went grocery shopping and Brady worked on homework.  He pretty much did homework all afternoon until about 4:15.  We then went to the Himes so Brady could help Mark work on the swing set some more.  While they did that Jill and I put together a bench and a rocking chair.  It was fun! Kolton had a blast playing there.  It started to rain while we were there and the kids all jumped on the trampoline in the rain.  They had a ton of fun! 

 We left at about 6 or 6:30 and went and got some Chinese for dinner and rented Breaking Dawn pt 2 from Redbox.  We ate and watched that while Kolton watched Hotel Transylvania.  

Sunday was daylight savings so we lost an hour of sleep.  So hard when you have church at 9:00! After church we took a 3 hour nap and then went to the Brammer's for dinner at 4:30.  I left at like 6:00 to go home and change and head to our Great to be 8 fireside that we were doing.  We set up and I played some prelude until it started at 7:00.  It was really short and sweet and we were done cleaning up and everything by 8:00.  I went back to the Brammers and picked up Kolton and Brady and then we went home.  

It was a fun and busy week! Seems like every week is like that though! Must have a good life here! ;) 

Parties

Monday, the 25th, I went and ordered Kolton's jersey for soccer.  We found out that weekend that he had made it on our friends's team.  We were so excited! I totally got lost and drove around and around and around for forever and even called Brady and started crying.  Haha.  Turns out it is a huge building that is so hard to miss.  In my defense, though, it had a sign at the road that said "Guns and Ammo" so I drove right past it.  Anyway, I found it and ordered jerseys for he and Kade.  That afternoon Brady and I turned in our taxes to a CPA he met in a group he is a part of called TIPS.  That night Brady did the lesson for FHE on covenants because Kolton had been asking about taking the sacrament and why so Brady thought that would be perfect.  Then we played UNO and ate cookies.  ;)

Tuesday Brady and I went to relief society activity.  Brady hurried and finished his homework so we could go.  I had been having a really bummy day and so I think he wanted to make me feel better.  It was a game night for couples and it was a lot of fun.  I'm glad we went.  

Wednesday I went to the library with Jill.  Kolton loves that place and we hadn't been in a really long time so it was great.  I also FINALLY got a positive ovulation test so that was exciting.  I also ordered our 2011 blog book!! Yay!! 

 Friday was a fun day.  I went grocery shopping at Crest.  I don't know why I stopped that.  I love it!! We then went to dinner with Neal and his wife.  Neal was Kolton's basketball coach at the Y and he has been coming and playing basketball with Brady.  It was fun.  We went to a place called Fuzzy Tacos in Bricktown.  On the way home we got sundaes and then we watched Spirit as a family.  

Saturday was busy! First we had Emery's birthday party! It was a Max and Ruby party.  So fun! I took pictures for Brittney so she didn't have to worry about it.  

 After the party we went to Academy to buy Kolton some shinguards, then went to the Foys so Brady could give Emery some candy because he couldn't make it to his party since he had to work, and then we went to Renee's party.  She had a girl make over party so I helped with that.  Renee actually invited me to come to her party (SOO cute) but I just helped with it.  Kolton played outside the whole time.  After Renee's party we went to the Brammers to see Madison because she was going to Mormon Prom.  

Sunday we woke up late and didn't get to church until about 9:30.  Afterwards we took a nap, then we went to the Brammers and ate dinner, dessert, and then went for a walk and put together puzzles.  

We had a good and busy week! 

Shooting

So, I don't think I've mentioned that I go play volleyball with some girls from our ward.  It is really fun.  Its actually WAY out of my comfort zone and still makes me feel a little uncomfortable but its gotten more and more fun.  I really enjoy it, actually! We play every other Thursday night at the church.  It's awesome! 

Friday, February 22nd, I had to work a job fair for EMC.  I was making myself so nervous about it! I could not wait until it was over.  Haha.  It actually didn't turn out that bad and I was glad I did it.  That night Brady and I went on a date with the Foys to Charlestons.  Yum yum! 

Saturday morning we slept in! It was awesome!! Then we went grocery shopping and decided to buy some things to go shooting that afternoon.  I called the Hulsmans and asked if we could go to their land and they were more than happy to let us do that.  I've shot a gun literally one time...like pulled the trigger once, so I was excited to do it some more.  It was a little farther away than we thought, but we were so glad we went! (We thought it would be about 45 minutes but it was more like 1 1/2 hours) 

 We shot the .22 rifle and Brady's 12 gauge shotgun.  

 Kolton shot the .22 a lot and loved it! He hit the target!! :) 

 Brady would help Kolton aim.  It was so cute to watch! Love my boys! 

 I shot both guns as well.  I shot some clay pigeons hanging from a wood pallet and then Bro. Hulsman and Bro. Salisbury came over and wanted to see me shoot the shotgun so they threw some pigeons for me.  The first one they threw I just shot.  Literally.  Didn't aim or anything.  They laughed.  Haha.  After that I was a little more patient and would aim for it.  I never did hit one, but I got close a couple of times.  :) 

 I could not figure out how to throw the clay pigeons.  I stunk at it.  So, Brady had to throw them himself.  I'd give the thrower to him, he'd throw the pigeon and then drop the thrower, aim and shoot.  At the end we took 10 and counted how many he hit (just so he'd get an idea of how accurate he was being) and he hit 7 out of the 10 so that was pretty good!

 Kolton was our little helper giving us the clay pigeons and then he cleaned up all the empty shotgun shells off the ground before we left.  Brady taught him that you always leave places cleaner than when you got there, so Kolton picked up ones that weren't from us as well.  He did awesome.  

We had a really good time and I'm so glad we went! Definitely need to do it again and soon!
