Celebrating 5 Years

Brady and I celebrated our 5 YEAR ANNIVERSARY this past week. I know in 20 years I'll look back and think 5 years was nothing but right here, right now, I can't believe its been 5 years! In 5 years we've had two children, lived in two homes, had 6 cars :)...well I can't think of what else has happened but there's more! ;) We love each other more than ever and couldn't be happier!
Brady worked late on our anniversary (Thursday) so we celebrated Friday night. Jeff and Vanessa watched Kolton while Brady and I went on a picnic up at Lake Hefner on the East Wharf! It was probably the best date we've been on since before we were married! I'm so glad Brady suggested it! There was nothing fancy or extravagant about it but it was peaceful and relaxing and so beautiful...and we were alone!

This is what we ate on our picnic: turkey sandwiches, red grapes, carbonated water (me: Tangerine Lime, Brady: Black Cherry), potato chips for Brady, Sour Cream and Onion Pringles for me, and Coconut Dream cookies that taste pretty much like Samoas from the Girl Scouts.

We had the wharf to ourselves for pretty much the whole time. There was a live band playing at one of the restaurants there on the lake which was a great addition!

We had a wonderful time up there! I'd love to go back when its a little cooler and just watch the sun set.
After our picnic we went back to Jeff and Vanessa's and took Kolton swimming with them. It was fun to spend time as a family too while celebrating our anniversary!

Summer Fun

We have had such a fun summer this year just doing things outside! We've had lots of opportunities to play in the water too which is my favorite!! My legs are even a darker version of white--which if you know me well know how much of a feat that is!! ;) Its also been fun for Kolton to have his cousins close.
Last week we went over to the Brammers (they were out of town) and let the boys slip n slide. Before we went over there Brady showed Kolton some people slip n sliding on YouTube so that he'd know what it was and how to use it. The first time he tried it he went on his belly, thanks to some cool YouTube videos. :) I brought my camera (of course--I take pictures constantly!) but I forgot my memory card so Vanessa was nice enough to email me some picture of the kids slip n sliding. :)
The slip n slide was in three different locations as we tried to find a good spot for the kids to actually be able to make it to the end. It ended up on a hill and that seemed to help a lot!

I couldn't help but try it too!! :)

We have gone to the splash pad in Norman a couple of times too. Kolton loves to run around and play with all the toys! He's such a fish--I love it!





We told the boys to go get on the yellow bench (they are all different colors) and they all just stood there and stared at us. It was funny! We got them up there finally, though, but they only stayed for a couple seconds so I wasn't able to get the cute picture with all of them looking and smiling like I'd hoped. ;)



We've gone swimming a TON too! WAY more than last summer! Its been wonderful! Kolton and Pierson were so cute this last week. They decided it would be fun to jump in together. Sometimes one would jump before the other but several times they would jump at the same time. They'd either count to 10 or say "ready, set, go" and then jump. (Kolton would sometimes stop at 9 and jump it...crazy kid!)

On Friday we went to Meet the Sooners. Vanessa had told me about it and I wanted to go but I thought it was Saturday morning and I had plans so I wasn't going to be able to go. Vanessa texted me, though, on Friday morning and said it was that morning. Luckily I had already showered-otherwise we would not have made it in time. We hurried and left (I didn't realize Kolton was wearing an orange shirt--we were in a hurry) and met Jeff and Vanessa at their apartment. We ran to Walmart and bought little footballs for the players to sign and went over to the field. Kolton was SO excited to see the football players!!


We let the boys play on the field while we were waiting in line. Some of the lines were very long...We waited in line for the quarterbacks for at least 30 minutes if not more. Kolton was not fond of the waiting in line on a hot hot day standing in the sun but once we'd get up to the players he'd get excited again to give them his football.


We cheated with DeMarco Murray. He was sitting right next to the quarterbacks, so even though we didn't wait in line for the runningbacks I had Kolton just slide him his football to see if he'd sign it for him and luckily he did!! :)

We were able to get several signatures--most of which I can't read. ;) Unfortunately we didn't get Bob Stoops--by the time we went to go get in his line they had closed it down to make sure he could leave right at noon. Next year though!! I think Kolton will like it a lot more next year too because he'll be older and maybe remember a little about watching the games this year. I CANNOT wait for college football to start! I love it!!

Redhawks and More...

Kolton went to the library this week for his first time! I took him to the story time but it was the older kid one and was way over his head so we left that early and he just played with the puzzles and toys they have there and sat and read some books with me. We spent over an hour there. I knew I had fines on my library card (I turned in a book over a year late...) but I didn't know how much they were. I went and asked expecting her to at least say a few dollars...nope...$0.10. So I obviously quickly paid that and then let Kolton pick out some books to take home. All he wanted were cars and truck books (he got one airplane book too). I've read the dump truck book to him AT LEAST 10 times since Tuesday. :) He loves them!
I decided to take him back to the library on Wednesday when they have the baby story time for kids 3 and under. He liked that one much more! It was more interactive! And Kade got to come too so he liked seeing him there!
He got to have a turn on one of the kid computers there. This was the first time he's actually sat down and tried to do something on a computer with a mouse. He actually did pretty good with the toddler game he played. You had to pick up the keys (just by putting the mouse over it) and match the lettered key to the right lettered train car.



I came out of the shower yesterday to find Kolton mastering this new trick:

He goes from the bed to the window seat, climbs up, and then jumps to the bed (which he's done before). I can't believe he's learning to climb things like that! I'm going to have to lock him in his room or something when I take showers from now on. ;)

Last night we went to the Redhawks game with the Foys. They had tickets and invited us to come with them. Kolton was really excited all day to go to a baseball game! He kept talking about how when Daddy got home, him, Daddy and I were going to a baseball game together! It was cute to see how excited he was!



I tried a few times to take a picture with him. Some kind of turned out with him sort of looking...

And others did not... :)

He'd make a silly face with Brady though. :)

And then with Emery as bait behind me we got him to smile. :)

He started trying to do the splits while watching the game and got pretty close to the ground!!

It was a fun activity to do besides sit around the house and it was free!! :) Its nice to get out sometimes!!

I was SO thirsty when we left that we HAD to stop and get a drink. We decided upon 7-Eleven to quench our thirst and all decided to get blue icees. $2.57 later I wasn't thirsty anymore, Kolton was excited to get an icee, and we all had blue tongues. :)
Our family is the best!

No Fear

Yesterday Kolton decided it was OK to jump in to the pool without anyone catching him. I don't know what brought it on but he just decided to do it! He was so proud himself and we were excited that he is growing so big!
It started at first jumping off of the steps into the pool.

Then he stopped to take a break and eat donuts.

And get a powdered sugar face!

Then he jumped off into the pool with Daddy.

And then by himself.

And then with mommy!


Then he thought he needed more sunscreen.

And then let daddy throw him!
I'm glad he's growing in to such a big, brave boy!
