{Valentine's Dayyy}

Woke up Monday morning and made Kolton some pink heart shaped chocolate chip pancakes. Yum! He was so excited! It was the first thing he wanted to do when he woke up. You can tell by his sleepy eyes in the picture! :)

After eating we put together a fish puzzle that he got for his birthday and played a few rounds of Toy Story Memory. Then we got ready and went to the Kidspace Park and played.



Yes, he loves swings! ;) We had packed a picnic lunch to eat at the park but while we were there Brady invited us to come down to Norman and eat lunch with him. It ended up being too windy anyway. I tried to let Kolton eat part of the picnic lunch we had brought with us at the picnic tables but the wind kept blowing everything away so we left and went and ate lunch with Daddy. We also ran several errands to a bunch of stores! :) I wanted to get some things to decorate the table with for dinner but all the decorations were gone (I shouldn't have waited until the day of!) so I ended up pretty much copying some of my cousin's ideas she did with her kids last year (Thanks Daegan! :))!
We had friends come and bring us Valentine's and yummy treats!

Then Kolton sacked out on my bed right before dinner watching a movie since he hadn't had any time for a nap (not that he takes one every day anyway but after the busy morning and afternoon we had he was needing one!).

We had a dinner of Italian sausage spaghetti. It was delicious! Brady even helped cook it! Yummy!


Brady brought home pretty roses for me and had Kolton give them to me.

After dinner and FHE (where we learned about the vision of the Tree of Life and played Valentine's Day BINGO) we went to Lillian's grave and left a rose for her. Kolton asked a ton of questions about her and was trying to understand who she was and how we were going to go see her and why she was buried in the ground etc. It will be a few years before he understands the concept of it all but he enjoyed going to see her and talking to her.
We had a good Valentine's day! It was great to spend it with each other and be able to spend a nice night as a family! Its crazy to me that 6 years ago on Valentine's day Brady and I met and began our life together! We are so lucky to have our children and the love that we share!

The Second Wave

Last week we got another snow storm. They were predicting anywhere from 6-12" and we got 7". It didn't make as big of an impact as the storm from the week before. Now, there's hardly any snow anywhere. We are in the upper 60s now! Oklahoma is just crazy with its weather! Kolton has really enjoyed being able to play in the snow though, so I'm glad he got the chance a couple of times this year.

Watching daddy shovel the sidewalk and driveway. He lasted a couple minutes and then wanted to get all suited up to go play out in it.

He played while Brady finished and then played for another 15 minutes or so after Brady came back in.

Blizzard 2011

Monday evening about 9:00 it started to sleet. It sleeted for an hour or so and then it "thundersnowed." It was so weird! We were watching tv and I thought I heard thunder. We brushed it aside thinking, "no way," then we heard it again and again. It was so weird! When we woke up Tuesday morning it looked like this. The wind was going at 35-50 mph and it was snowing. I believe we got like 12 inches of snow with like an inch or so of ice below it. There were 3-5 foot drifts.
All day on Monday Brady's work kept telling them that they most likely won't shut down due to weather. They have a generator so even if they lost power they would still be able to work because of that. They talked about how much money they'd lose every day they are closed etc. etc. So, pretty much, they won't be closing. Well, Tuesday morning, Brady got a message on his work phone saying work was CLOSED! Yay! He got to stay home!
Kolton wanted to play outside all day! We told him no way because it was -15 with the windchill. Well, at about 4:00 we decided we needed to switch the cars in the driveway so if we went somewhere, the Durango would be available. So we went out and let him play for a little bit.

It was SO SO cold outside! The wind was blowing so hard and blowing snow all over the place. Kolton kept falling down. :)

He wanted to climb to the top of this 3 foot or so snow drift.

We went in the back yard and the boys went running and fell to the ground. They rolled around a bit and then Kolton had enough and got up.

Brady proceeded to make a snow angel. :)

Wednesday morning Brady got another message saying his work was canceled again! Yahoo! So we slept in (some later than others...).

Brady, Kolton and I shoveled our walkway. Well, lets be honest...Brady did. Kolton and I helped a little bit. :) Wednesday was still really cold (at this point it was 10 degrees) but there was hardly any wind and it was sunny outside so it felt MUCH better than Tuesday.

We went sledding that afternoon. We LOOKED and CALLED EVERYWHERE looking for a sled last weekend, knowing we'd have this opportunity. Everyone was SOLD OUT. So, last minute, we borrowed Brady's parent's saucers. I didn't bring my camera--just my video camera, so I took pictures of the video. :) I HAD to have pictures (even if they look weird)!!
When we got there, as we were walking to the "hill" (so funny in Oklahoma the only place people can sled is at overpasses) I asked Kolton if he wanted to go by himself. He said yes. He's never really been sledding yet so I was really surprised that he'd want to go by himself. Then I started thinking it probably wouldn't be a good idea after seeing quite a few people tumble off of their sleds when they'd hit a dirt patch. I thought for sure if Kolton fell off of his he'd be done. But, I decided to let him go anyway. He L-O-V-E-D it! Before he'd even come to a complete stop he'd exclaim that he wanted to do it again!


One time he did crash and tumble off his sled but he got up cracking up. He thought it was SO funny and wanted to do it again!

We were there for about 45 minutes and he could have gone for another but I was TIRED from climbing up the hill after every sled down it. Luckily, I didn't have to carry him up it--he just walked right up it like it was nothing (until the end, then he started wanting you to hold his hand). It was a blast and I'm so glad we were able to do it!
After sledding we ate a yummy stew dinner and warmed up and prepared for a night of -1degrees! -1! So crazy!
Unfortunately, Brady had to go back to work today so its just me and Kolton but we thoroughly enjoyed his two days at home with us! Gotta love blizzards/snow storms in the OK.
(Oh and I trimmed my hair today. Yep, all by myself! I'm pretty proud of myself!:))

Enjoy it While You Can

Last week was beautiful outside! It was great to be able to go play outside and enjoy some fresh air (as well as work on our house to put it up for sale).
About a week ago we went up to the church with some friends to go play basketball in the gym. Kolton has been watching Brady play on Wednesday nights lately and always wants to get down and play with the big guys. Almost every week one of the guys will come up to Kolton and ask him if he wants to be on their team (joking around) but he takes them very seriously and gets excited and wants to play. So, this time he got to play and was SO excited!

One day last week Kashton came over to play while his mom went to school. We decided to venture outside and enjoy the 60something degree weather. The boys played basketball and soccer and had a blast running around!


I was standing up and Kolton kept trying to talk to me but the sun was directly behind my head. He kept getting annoyed that he couldn't see and it was too bright. ;)

That afternoon we went to the park! It was beautiful!


We went to the park again on Friday afternoon with daddy (who got home from work at 3:45--so nice!) and also jumped on the trampoline a few times. Sunday got a little chilly and then Monday night came...

A Dragon's Birthday

Kolton came up to me this morning and told me that it was his dragon's birthday and we needed to sing happy birthday to him and get him a cake. So, we gathered his dragon's friends around, made a cake, and proceeded to sing him happy birthday.

His imagination is going crazy lately and I love it. He loves to role play! He vegged out for about 2 days this last weekend when he was totally sick but he has made up for it in the last couple of days! Don't get me wrong, he keeps asking to watch shows all day, but when he's told no (even after the 33rd time) he'll say "OK" and go play with his dinosaurs and dragons and "Toy Story Guys." They go to the park, the mall, take naps and we all have to whisper in the house so we don't wake them up, hide from monsters, say prayers together and just about anything else you can think of. His dinosaurs are good sharers (he tells me this all the time) and will share their food with Kolton all the time! :)

He's growing up!!

About a week or two ago Kolton wanted to color so I got him some paper and markers and he went and sat in the kitchen and went at it. Brady and I were in the living room watching t.v. when he came in and showed me the picture he drew of himself. He was so proud!

So, we sent a picture of his picture to my mom and she called him to tell him she loved his picture. She asked him to draw a picture of her and so he immediately went and drew one right away. I asked him what the "x" was on Grandma's face and he said, "That's Grandma's smile" in a very matter of fact voice (like I should know that already).

And then Grandma asked him to draw a picture of Grandpa. This one is a little more compact (he drew the arms and hands pretty much on the face), so it is kind of hard to see but he drew it and came up to Brady and I and said, "he has 2 hairs. Not a lot of hair because he's Grandpa Moffett." Brady and I cracked up! ;) He has since drawn another picture of Grandma and Grandpa and on that one Grandpa only had 2 hairs again. :)

He has now developed a fancy for drawing monsters. They have sharp teeth and mean eyes and everything! I love it!

A Dusting

Monday we had a little snow come through Moore. The second Kolton saw it was snowing he wanted to be out there! So, we bundled him up and sent him out. He loved it! He played and played and played!



Then he started trying to pick it up and come throw it on me. I, obviously, was not a fan of this (I was just in my pajamas taking a break from painting), so I convinced him to just "throw" the snow he had at the car.


After about 15 minutes or so I was freezing, so I sent him in the backyard and I went inside and opened the back window so I could watch/hear him. He went straight for the trampoline!




I'm glad we got one "snowfall" this year so he could have this morning of playing in it! It was gone and melted by the afternoon, but he enjoyed it while he could. I'm now ready for it to be spring!

Jesus Wants Me For a Sunbeam!

Last Sunday was Kolton's first week as a Sunbeam in Primary at church. The primary president told me who is teacher was, so throughout the week I had been talking about Sis. Maruska and how she was going to be his new teacher and showed him what she looked like and everything. I don't know if I've created this or if Kolton is just like this, but he does better with new things (or anything really) if I explain it all to him and tell him before hand what is going to happen. He doesn't like to be surprised. :) Anyway, Brady and I had been talking about his teacher and Primary all week so that he'd hopefully be prepared. We didn't know what to expect, though, as far as him adjusting to a new teacher (and not having toys to play with :)). Come time for Primary I took him to the primary room and they have two sunbeam classes and he was on the list for the other teacher. Crap. I love the other teacher, she's a sweetheart, it just wasn't who I told Kolton was going to be his teacher. I sat him down in the chair and told him that Sis. Maruska wasn't his teacher. His bottom lip started to quiver and I thought...well...I guess the adjustment isn't going to be easy...Other parents started coming in and they were confused because their children were listed with the opposite teacher then they thought as well. So, we asked a member of the primary presidency and she switched them all. The SECOND Kolton sat down next to his teacher he smiled and never looked back. Hallelujah! Brady and I have done our fair share of peaking on him in singing and sharing time and looks adorable! He just sits straight up in his chair with either his hands on his lap or raised up in the air to volunteer. He LOVES it and LOVES his teacher. We are so excited for him and still can't believe he has done so well!
