A Dragon's Birthday

Kolton came up to me this morning and told me that it was his dragon's birthday and we needed to sing happy birthday to him and get him a cake. So, we gathered his dragon's friends around, made a cake, and proceeded to sing him happy birthday.

His imagination is going crazy lately and I love it. He loves to role play! He vegged out for about 2 days this last weekend when he was totally sick but he has made up for it in the last couple of days! Don't get me wrong, he keeps asking to watch shows all day, but when he's told no (even after the 33rd time) he'll say "OK" and go play with his dinosaurs and dragons and "Toy Story Guys." They go to the park, the mall, take naps and we all have to whisper in the house so we don't wake them up, hide from monsters, say prayers together and just about anything else you can think of. His dinosaurs are good sharers (he tells me this all the time) and will share their food with Kolton all the time! :)

He's growing up!!

About a week or two ago Kolton wanted to color so I got him some paper and markers and he went and sat in the kitchen and went at it. Brady and I were in the living room watching t.v. when he came in and showed me the picture he drew of himself. He was so proud!

So, we sent a picture of his picture to my mom and she called him to tell him she loved his picture. She asked him to draw a picture of her and so he immediately went and drew one right away. I asked him what the "x" was on Grandma's face and he said, "That's Grandma's smile" in a very matter of fact voice (like I should know that already).

And then Grandma asked him to draw a picture of Grandpa. This one is a little more compact (he drew the arms and hands pretty much on the face), so it is kind of hard to see but he drew it and came up to Brady and I and said, "he has 2 hairs. Not a lot of hair because he's Grandpa Moffett." Brady and I cracked up! ;) He has since drawn another picture of Grandma and Grandpa and on that one Grandpa only had 2 hairs again. :)

He has now developed a fancy for drawing monsters. They have sharp teeth and mean eyes and everything! I love it!

A Dusting

Monday we had a little snow come through Moore. The second Kolton saw it was snowing he wanted to be out there! So, we bundled him up and sent him out. He loved it! He played and played and played!



Then he started trying to pick it up and come throw it on me. I, obviously, was not a fan of this (I was just in my pajamas taking a break from painting), so I convinced him to just "throw" the snow he had at the car.


After about 15 minutes or so I was freezing, so I sent him in the backyard and I went inside and opened the back window so I could watch/hear him. He went straight for the trampoline!




I'm glad we got one "snowfall" this year so he could have this morning of playing in it! It was gone and melted by the afternoon, but he enjoyed it while he could. I'm now ready for it to be spring!

Jesus Wants Me For a Sunbeam!

Last Sunday was Kolton's first week as a Sunbeam in Primary at church. The primary president told me who is teacher was, so throughout the week I had been talking about Sis. Maruska and how she was going to be his new teacher and showed him what she looked like and everything. I don't know if I've created this or if Kolton is just like this, but he does better with new things (or anything really) if I explain it all to him and tell him before hand what is going to happen. He doesn't like to be surprised. :) Anyway, Brady and I had been talking about his teacher and Primary all week so that he'd hopefully be prepared. We didn't know what to expect, though, as far as him adjusting to a new teacher (and not having toys to play with :)). Come time for Primary I took him to the primary room and they have two sunbeam classes and he was on the list for the other teacher. Crap. I love the other teacher, she's a sweetheart, it just wasn't who I told Kolton was going to be his teacher. I sat him down in the chair and told him that Sis. Maruska wasn't his teacher. His bottom lip started to quiver and I thought...well...I guess the adjustment isn't going to be easy...Other parents started coming in and they were confused because their children were listed with the opposite teacher then they thought as well. So, we asked a member of the primary presidency and she switched them all. The SECOND Kolton sat down next to his teacher he smiled and never looked back. Hallelujah! Brady and I have done our fair share of peaking on him in singing and sharing time and looks adorable! He just sits straight up in his chair with either his hands on his lap or raised up in the air to volunteer. He LOVES it and LOVES his teacher. We are so excited for him and still can't believe he has done so well!

New Year's Eve and New Year's Day: Kinect Style

New Year's Eve we went to the Foy's house to eat yummy food and play their Kinect. Earlier that day Brady and I had eye doctor appointments so Kolton went to the Foy's for them to watch him for us. I guess he had a lot of fun playing it with Kade and so he was really excited to come back and play again! After a little convincing of the dads, the Thunder game was turned off and the Kinect was turned on. :) First up was bowling.

Then Kolton and Brady got to play soccer.

Brittney and I did some boxing too. Not to brag or anything but...I'm pretty much unbeatable in boxing! :)

On New Year's Day we went to the Brammer's for a couple hours to see Jaycee and Adam for the last time before they headed back to Utah the next morning. Kolton had so much fun playing with them. He was spoiled!

That morning Brady woke up and said, "Jen, we are getting the kinect." ;) So, he headed to Best Buy before we went to the Brammers and bought the sensor and then we brought it over to play with Jaycee and Adam.

The one picture I have of Jaycee and Adam together with Kolton. He misses them. We are so glad they were able to come out for a surprise Christmas visit! (And we are so excited they are having a little boy!)

We didn't really make New Year's resolutions this year but one thing we decided we need to be better at is keeping the house clean when Brady is home. I don't know what our deal is but when Brady is home I don't clean and no one picks up after themselves hardly and the house gets trashed every weekend. So, our goal is to be better at picking up after ourselves. Simple really. We've done pretty good so far. ;) Hopefully 2011 will be wonderful for us and our family!

Kolton's 3rd Birthday

Is he really 3? Seriously?! Its so weird to me! I used to think 3 year olds were so old! Now I look at them and they seem so little to me! I can't believe I have a 3 year old! All at the same time, though, I feel like he is SO much older. That he's been with us for way longer than 3 years!
For his birthday we went to see Tangled at the movie theater. He's been to the movies two or three times his whole life so he was super excited to go! (Brady had to go to the doctor on his birthday so he was home from work so he got to go with us!) When we pulled up to the movie theater he said, "This movie theater is wonderful and beautiful!" Ha! He's funny!
When we got in to the theater and sat down all of a sudden he said he wanted to go home and was scared. He said he didn't want to see the "big TV" and tried to convince us to leave. I knew he'd like it if he would just stay so I kept telling him he'd be fine. Finally I just told him that if he wanted to leave then go ahead but that Daddy and I were going to stay there. I thought for sure he'd just sit down...but nope! He walked down or isle, down the stairs and around the corner. I quickly got up to go get him and came around the corner as he was walking out the door of the theater. I couldn't believe he'd just go! He's generally way to shy to do that! I picked him up and told him we needed to go back in. He said he wanted to go home and go to bed instead of watching the movie. Poor guy! Being tortured on his birthday! :) Well, we went back in and the SECOND the curtain came up and the intro to the theater started he was fine and turned to Brady and said that he liked the movie theater! He really enjoyed the movie and so did Brady and I. It was cute!
As we were walking out he wanted to go in to the arcade room. So, we walked in just as these two boys were finishing up racing the car racing game. They got up and Kolton sat down and for some reason the game was starting up another race. So, Kolton and Brady got to race together and Kolton did really well steering!
When we walked in to the theater the ground was wet and so Brady was holding his jeans up so they wouldn't get wet. When we left Kolton decided he needed to do the same thing and pulled his jeans up too (even though the ground wasn't wet anymore).

That night we had Brady's family over to eat dinner and open presents. Our house is TOO small to have that many people in our little living room! Oh goodness! Kolton had fun opening his presents though! For dinner we had pizza (I made a cheese one just for Kolton), cheetos, salad, vegetables and dip (he loves it! and will actually eat it over candy--weird, I know!) and capri suns.

He was excited for his Thunder hoodie from Jeff and his family. :)



This is his present from Grandma and Grandpa Moffett. With every paper he pulled out he got more and more excited and he'd get a little peak at what was inside before the paper would move and cover it up again. He'd yell "Dragon!" or "Motorcycle" every time! It was cute!

The little stinker cheated and started to blow his candles out before we had finished singing. He was SO excited for us to sing Happy Birthday to him. All day he kept asking me to sing it to him. He loved that it was actually time to have it sung to him! :)


The next morning he got to eat a left over cupcake and capri sun for breakfast. I'm such a cool mom. ;)

He loves to play with this motorcycle. It only has two buttons so its easy for him to navigate. Its one of the favorite toys when friends come over.
Things we love about Kolton:
He is SO sweet! In fact he loves to make Brady and I happy to the point that he'll give up whatever he has if we want it. I love it!
He's an amazing eater! He'll practically eat anything (except Beef Strogonaff).
He loves to sing songs. His favorites are "I am a Child of God," "Popcorn Popping," and "Jesus Wants me for a Sunbeam."
He ALWAYS wants to say prayer and when he does he's very thoughtful with what he says. He'll go through his whole day and thank Heavenly Father for each thing he was able to do.
He loves Orange Juice.
He asks me all the time if I'm happy. If I say no, he'll ask if I'm just a "lil-bitit" happy, hoping I'll say yes to that. He's very sensitive to our emotions (which makes disciplining easy generally).
If we did something a week ago, a month ago...any time before today then we did it "last morning."
He's already better at directions then I am. :) He knows what stores are which way and is a pretty good back seat driver. We always know when the light is red or green so we won't miss it.
He loves to color! He's gotten pretty good at drawing people. I love it!
Every boy's name starts with "K" according to him.
He loves loves loves to cuddle. When he cuddles with dad, he expects a belly rub or arm tickle or even leg tickle-whatever he can get. ;)
He knows all his shapes, colors, can count to 20 (with a few made up numbers mixed in there), can recognize his numbers up to 5 and a few above, and most of his alphabet.
He weighs 33.5 lbs (65th percentile) and is 39 inches tall (85th percentile). He's such a skinny minny. We've had to buy him more jeans this winter because his 3T were turning in to high waters and I have to cinch the waste 6 loops on each side (so 12 loops total) and they still aren't tight enough around his waste so we have to add a belt.
You pull out a camera he stops what he's doing and cheeses. :)
He's a good cleaner and reminds me to pick up before Daddy comes home from work almost every day.
He loves his Daddy more and more each day. He's still a momma's boy but his bond with his Dad is stronger then its ever been. In fact, every Sunday he wants Daddy to pick him up from his class--not me.
He loves to be outside and do anything sports related!
He loves animals and told me his favorite is a penguin.
His favorite shows are Curious George and the Cat in the Hat.
His favorite movies (right now) are the Toy Story movies. Toy Story 2 is his favorite of the three.
He tells you he loves you all the time in the sweetest little voice. It melts me every time!
I know there is more that I just can't think of right now. We love him to pieces and enjoy the fun times we get to share with him!
